How do I start with Starfinder Society online?

I've been looking at the guide and I like what I'm seeing... I played a couple of PFS scenarios years ago but I don't really remember how the chronicle sheets were handled online, I think I was given a PDF that was already filled up at the end but... for example, if I were to start here, how would I add the Welcome to the Starfinder Society boon? Would I need to tell the GM beforehand to fill it out for me?

Welcome to the wide world of online Society play!
Generally, GMs will ask for all of the info they need during the start-up or wind-down of an adventure (oftentimes using a shared doc to collect PFS IDs, factions, dayjob results, etc) and then fill out chronicle sheets at the end as PDFs, and email them out to players. If you have any special notes (like if the GM needs to notate your sheet for a meta-boon, if you're using a GM Nova replay, for Skittershot credit, or whatever other special considerations you may have) it's incumbent on you to mention it to the GM at some point. (GMs should be happy to add anything after the fact if you forget, though - one of the beauties of playing online is that you probably have a way of shooting the GM a message anytime.)
As far as the Welcome to Starfinder boon goes, though - in theory you should have the GM for the session in which you apply it put your ID and their signature on it; even if it's just a PDF they send out at the end. I don't imagine many GMs would have a problem you with you using it during the course of the adventure, and they'd email off a signed copy at the end, though. Just mention it ahead of time so there's no surprises.

Have fun out there! Feel free to join the some of the bigger online lodges' discord servers, like Cosmic Crit or Starfinder Nexus. Oh, and check out the guides to online play if you haven't! (These are written for Pathfinder Society, but the gist is the same.)

Thank you! Ok! I would love to join a PbP game. I don't have much time to spare for a single session, but I can and I have played through forums before.

As Kishmo indicated, most GMs will be happy to issue your Welcome to Starfinder Society boon to apply to your -701.

If you haven't already, head over to Castamirs Flaxseed Station her on the forums for one of the more active PbP Starfinder communities or join on the Discord servers, some of which also run PbP (or PbD).

Welcome, and have fun playing.

Greetings and welcome soulnova!

Looks like pretty much everything has been covered already, but I just wanted to add that there are plenty of Society games run in both real time on virtual tabletops (Fantasy Grounds, D20 Pro and Roll20 being the most popular) and in PbP formats online all the time, so you shouldn't have any problems finding something!

The discord communities that have been linked are also great places to start that involve both PbP and VTT games for Starfinder (as well as Pathfinder & 2nd Edition Pathfinder) and are just generally awesome places to find games and meet other online players.

The only one i'll add is the main Online discord server which can be an excellent place to chat and discuss things as well as find groups! Org Play Online

Good luck with your gaming and may you always roll crits! ;)

Cosmic Crittermander Discord there's a lot of games popping off there, VTT and pbp

For PDFs its easy enough to send welcome to pathfinder boons along with the chronicle sheet, as long as the dm knows before or after the adventure (or notices you're playing a 701 at first level)
