[PFS2][RD] PFS2 01-02 -- The Mosquito Witch

Recruitment

Scarab Sages

Now with the PbP Gameday wrapping up, time to start a new table.

And now my foray in to running PFS2 online.

Unlike my other tables I do an application since I want to take some time with this one. There is a bit more investigation and mood that needs to be done so I want to take my time.

1-02 The Mosquito Witch wrote:

Decades ago, witnesses reported a fearsome cryptid outside of the quiet River Kingdoms town of Shimmerford. Dubbed the Mosquito Witch, it was rarely seen since and quickly became a beloved local legend that the town celebrates and promotes to attract visitors. But when recent attacks began savaging livestock and townsfolk alike, many have started believing the Mosquito Witch was real all along. The PCs travel to Shimmerford to unravel the cryptid mystery, but might they just become the witch's next victim?

I am going to run this one more towards the intellectual thriller (think X-files)

So if you are interested I would like the following:

Out of Character

Character A/B/C and Level

Has this character played other Society scenarios

In Character

What is your Lore training and why?

What is your Faction(s) and why?

What do you fear? and what is your hope?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I need to sort out my PFS2 character first, but I'd be interested in this. I'll try and have the character figured out later today.

Vigilant Seal

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Out of Character
Ghostbiter - Goblin/Warrior/Barbarian 1
Character has not yet been played.

What is your Lore training and why? I bite ghosts. Most see ghosts and scared of ghosts, but not me. I bite them and hit them. Ghosts scared of Ghostbiter. I learn a lot about fighting scary things from Pathfinder longshanks. I also learned that books have weird little pictures of sounds and not words. Each part of sound is written down with a symbol. But since these are just sound pictures on paper and not words then Ghostbiter safe from word-stealing books. There is a big building full of these sound books and you can steal them and no one chases you. If you give back the book you stole then you can steal another book and no one chase. There are stories of boring longshanks doing boring things. There are books about tasty ghosts scaring longshanks. I like these books.

What is your Faction(s) and why? Vigilant Seal like the way I bite ghosts. They said they have lots of ghosts I can bite. I also bite lots of other things for them. But they wanted me to learn symbols in the sound books first. It was very scary because I thought they were word-stealing books, but the sound books they said were safe.

What do you fear? and what is your hope? They said some of the things they protect are word-stealing books that no one should ever open. Other things are even more scary than that. I don't see what can be scarier than word-stealing books. Maybe I can bite the books to stop them. I hope that I keep new Pathfinder tribe safe from scary books and other scary things.

Grand Archive

Dotting for interest. I'll have to build out Halga and then post everything here. She's level 2 from the playtest point spending and has another 8xp from running a two scenarios as a GM.

Horizon Hunters

Vengis Mountebank - Human Charlatan Sorcerer 1
Character is brand new--this will be my first exposure to PF2, though I've played loads of PF1.

What is your Lore training and why? Underworld. Some would say that I have some contacts in low places, or that I have swindled a rich widow or tried to blackmail the wrong noble. All that is in the past--the Pathfinders provide an honorable way forward, so I can show my declining family I'm not a screw-up.

What is your Faction(s) and why? Vigilant Seal. The missions of the Pathfinders, as described, sound way too dangerous. Buried temples or ancient keeps were abandoned for a reason. Let's keep the Pathfinders safe.

What do you fear? and what is your hope? Fear? I don't want to be poor or out of the game. My hopes? That a stint with the Pathfinders will put me back into my family's good graces. I'd like to earn a pretty penny, too. A talent as splendid as my own hardly comes cheap...

Horizon Hunters

Mejarel - Elf Charlatan Bard
This is a new character. I'm running a few in-person PF2 games, but have yet to play in any.

What is your Lore training and why? I'm well-versed in many things. I've studied my ancestors, I've learned the ways of the less reputable, and I spent my training studying how to learn even more. Knowledge is power, and even better, it can be entertainment.

What is your Faction(s) and why? Horizon Hunters. I've spent decades passing the stories of other heroes and other mysteries off as my own adventures. I grew bored with that. It's time to sing of stories I was actually part of, and finding a way to get my name in the Chronicles will make sure the song lives on.

What do you fear? And what is your hope? I fear being forgotten. I hope that I'll find adventures and mysteries worth sharing with the world, or at the very least, worth singing about.

Radiant Oath

Dotting for interest.

Arak is a lvl 1 dwarven monk, with mountain stance. If chosen this would be his first adventure.

*************************************************************************** ****************************************************

What is your Lore training and why?

I've lived most of my life training myself to become the ultimate warrior, expert strong and unyelding as a mountain itself. The monks of the Monastery of the Seven Forms teached me their arts and passed their knowledge of warfare onto me, but they also teached about respect, duty and justice. I will prove that their faith in me was well placed.

What is your Faction(s) and why?

I follow the way of the Radiant Oath. Defeating evil with the aim of redeeming it is everything I stand for.

What do you fear? and what is your hope?

I fear failing my teachers and losing their faith in me. I hope to prove myself the greatest warrior the Monastery of the Seven Forms has ever produced.

Horizon Hunters

Cyne Walde - Human/Scholar (Arcana)/Wizard 1
No previous adventures.

What is your Lore training and why?

I'm trained in academia. As a former citizen of Hermea, we're expected to take a test when we turn sixteen of age; I studied alongside my siblings in order to grace our society with yet another generation of proud Conjurers, but... let's just say I trusted a little too much in my innate skills which according to the Council left much to be desired.

What is your Faction(s) and why?

The Horizon Hunters grant me the best opportunity I've had since I failed my test, which is to explore and learn from every place I can, and put to test my abilities as a Conjurer and a member of the Human Race. People says once you're out of Hermea you're never allowed back, but I'll prove them wrong.

What do you fear? and what is your hope?

Ironically, I fear what has given me the most hope since I joined the Society: a woman.

Her name is Kirsa, a fellow Pathfinder, a Cleric of Erastil. Although we haven't spent much time together, she's proven to be an invaluable companion, a kind person, and, afraid to say, I've been smitten by her beauty and personality.

She makes me feel I have a place outside my home, but at the same time, being close to her makes me think of never looking back to Hermea, to glory and utopia. It makes me fear my own weakness.

So, hope we get to have an adventure together soon guys!

Vigilant Seal

Yergi Manahath - Gnome / Emissary / Undead Sorcerer 1
Character has not yet been played and would be my first PF2 and PbP game.

What is your Lore training and why? Absalom Lore - As a messenger I've traveled all over (which was a great way to experience new things and stave off the Bleaching), I would be sent to and from Absalom many times. I've come to know the city well.

What is your Faction(s) and why? Vigilant Seal. I'm actually a victim of an unleashed horror - I got a bit too curious and off the beaten path during one of my message runs and ran afoul of some undead. When I awoke, I felt different - not quite alive but not quite dead. Now I hope to prevent others from suffering the same fate.

What do you fear? and what is your hope? I fear my brush with undeath will end up consuming me, but my hope is that I can use my tragedy to prevent tragedies for others.

Wayfinders

Bowen Greenwood - Human (Half elf)/Hunter/Ranger
Character has not yet been played.

Umm Hello there my name is Alex Munizaga, I'm new in the Paizo Community and decided to make a try here doing play by post rolplaying by the invitation of my friend Aldath (Cyne Walde). I played Pathfinder 1e playing but Pathfinder 2e is something very new to me. This is my first Character so i hope is everything all right.

https://paizo.com/people/AlexMunizaga90

What is your Lore training and why?

I'm rather skilled in Tanning; I learned the job thanks to an old hunter who lived in a cottage far away from my village, he adopted me and taught me how to be a good hunter, tracker and marksman. However, alongside with those disciplines i learned also how to tan the skins of the many beasts that lived in the woods, from little wild hares to bigger beasts like the mighty Brown Bear.

What is your Faction(s) and why?

The Verdant Wheel showed their interest in me thanks to the reccomendation from a friend of mine, a Priest of Erastil who saw in me that i had the potential to be more than just a mere huntsman with no direction or purpose. I accepted to join them, although i'm still not sure about the path i chose, being an adventurer is something new to me.

What do you fear? and what is your hope?

I fear no man or beast, neither death scares me, i learned in my job that or you make the role of the predator, or you make the role of the prey, a little mistake and your life can end in a short sigh, however, the memories of my village being raided and burned by Molthuni bandits and the screams of my dead family and neighbors still haunts me in my dreams, filling my heart with dread. I think i don't have hope for myself...No wait, there is one thing, the moment my mentor found me starving in the woods when i was young. I was injuried, scared and vulnerable, but that old man not only lended me a hand; He fed me, he raised me as his son and taught me how to live from the land until his life met an end at the paws of a black bear, those good times with him and his kindness, gave me the will to continue living and don't give up to despair, i suppose this could be considered the only spark of hope in my life.

Go ahead and check-in on the Discussion

Hey so I'm totally new to PbP here. Where should I be able to find the Discussion? I looked in Play-by-Post Discussion subforum but I don't see anything. Is that the right place?

EDIT: Never mind - I was being dumb and didn't see the tab at the top of the page!

Scarab Sages

Ok, one in and one out. So Bowen Greenwood go and check in on the discussion.
