Creature Stat Blocks with bracketed multiple creatures

My question pertains to Adventure Path creatures that come with a bracketed number after the creature name followed by the Creature Rating.

In this case, is the creature rating for the Individual Creatures or for the Combined Creatures

Example:
SCARLET TRIAD POISONERS (2) CREATURE 8
Does the Creature 8 count BOTH of the 2 creatures in its rating or does EACH of the TWO Scarlet Triad Poisoners count as Creature 8?

Individual poisoners are each creature 8.

The encounter as a whole is no longer characterized by a single level number, but by the expected APL + difficulty rating. So this could be marked as Extreme 6 or Trivial 10 depending on what level a 4-man party is expected to be at that point. In any case it's still roughly equivalent to PF1's CR 10 encounter.
