Shensen: What and Who does she know? (spoilers)

Hell's Rebels

My players want to go down a list of names and ask who she knows. Was she around for the first Silver Ravens movement? Does she know Jackdaw? Was she a Silver Raven?

She knows Guttugger her pet dinosaur and Chuko, her former adventuring chum. She maybe knows that Jackdaw is in Castle Kintargo, because Barzillai Thrune told her that although he doesn't know its significance (SoS p. 9, 29). She established the Sarenrae sect in town and thus has some connection to the Shelynites sheltering its believers.

She's an elf, so her age is not an issue with all of this.

Pretty sure she's not a Silver Raven and doesn't know them, but you could always rule she is to give some more background.

I wasn't in Kintargo at that time the first round of Silver Ravens were doing their thing... wasn't even born at that point in time. If I were or if I did, I woulda let you PCs know earlier! :-)

As for what I learned from Barzilai, as long as I can encourage the PCs to start hitting the targets of opportunity in the next adventure, that's what I'd know. NPCs like me are good sources of "quest giving" stuff to help focus a group of PCs who, all too often, get option paralysis and don't know which of the several quest threads to follow up on at any one time.

And I'm a half-elf, not an elf. Started out as a drow but that's a different story entirely.

In my golarion I pretty much leave out the Mary Sue backstory. That said, Chuko has been a huge favorite at my table and I expect the same from... you.

In my campaign, Tiarese carefully out your tongue and restored it to flesh in order to complete a ritual to come back as a greater banshee instead of a nemhain. She did eat it, yes. Gross. So you will be supernaturally silenced until they can put the witch down a second time.

That's fine, but don't be offended if in my campaign you get your tongue eaten as well. ;-)

And that said, if my "Mary Sue" background inspired you enough to inject your own creativity and passion into your version of the storyline, then I consider my background a success as well.

I hate to disappoint you, but I don't have a tongue (that originally belonged to me, anyway). I probably have a dusty knucklebone somewhere you can chew on if you ready want to.

Honestly I haven't thought up much of a backstory for you. Mary Sue is an unkind and exaggerated way of putting it, sorry. I meant more like the kind of backstory only a PC would have. Maybe I'll just leave it ambiguous...

I'll stop derailing the thread now. Sorry roguerouge!

Just by going over what happens in Hell's Rebels, Shensen's overall class level and how many people who "know" each other that wind up joining the Silver Ravens, I have a few ideas who Shensen knows.

Off the top of my head, I figured she knew Mialari Docur and her Lacunafex. Though that was because of an poorly-thought out idea that involved Shensen sponsoring a PC's child so they could be enrolled in the School. That whole hullabaloo was because this was my first major attempt at being the GM of an AP, and I was about to start overstepping my bounds as a GM.

Still, Shensen knowing Mialari makes sense. And given that Mialari knows Hetamon, I'd say Shensen knows who the Rose of Kintargo is as well. And of course, you can't really ignore Laria Longroad as a significant mover and shaker of Kintargo's underground. So that's easily Hetamon, Mialari and Laria.

If we want to get a bit obscure, I'd say she probably knew Porcia Victocora and the Sacred Order of Archivists as well. It makes sense through Porcia's connection to Laria, and that Order was one of the organizations hit on the Night of Ashes.
