Lingering Composition question

Rules Discussion

The ability states:

You add a flourish to your composition to extend its benefits. If your next action is to cast a cantrip composition with a duration of 1 round, attempt a Performance check. The DC is usually a standard-difficulty DC of a level equal to the highest-level target of your composition, but the GM can assign a different DC based on the circumstances. The effect depends on the result of your check.

Just wondering what would the DC be at level 1 if I'm trying to use this ability?

Thanks all, sorry don't have my rulebook handy right now I'm at work.

The DC at lvl 1 would be 15, so a lvl 1 Bard would need a 8 in the die (18 crit) if they have 18 Charisma.

At lvl 20 the DC would be 40, a bard that have put everything in Charisma and Performance would have + 37/38 in the check so it would only need 3/2 in the die.

Thanks a lot! I would start with 2 Focus points correct at level 1? 1 just because you automatically start with 1, and then 1 more since I took Lingering Composition?

Yes, this is right, you begin with 2 focus points if you are a Maestro Bard at lvl 1.

And keep in mind while you start the day with 2, you can only recover 1 by refocusing during the day until you pick up the Lvl 12 feat Inspirational Focus. So don't plan on using 2 every combat. Maybe plan on one per combat assuming you can get the rest in and saving the 2nd point for emergencies or the final fight of the day etc.

If they start as a gnome bard, they can take a familiar at 1st and use the Master Ability Familiar Focus to regain a point 1/day. That's enough to at least use 2 focus in 2 fights.

Huh, that just made me realize how much more useful those 1/day focus abilities are than they initially seem.
