metal / wood elementalist wizards

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I am trying to understand how these wizards work.

If i look at the APG under elemental wizards, I see a greatly reduced spell list. There is a "all schools" section and sections for each element.

then in UM, there are added 2 new types of elemental wizards, wood and metal, and removing air.

My question is do these 2 new elemental wizards still use the reduced spell list in APG. It would seem they do, since in UM, they only list the 2 new schools. This would make the 5 sschool system cohesive.

An elementalist wizard has a relatively small group of spells in their element (which they can prepare in their bonus spell slot for each spell level), and another relatively small group of spells in their opposing element (which cost two spell slots to prepare), and then the entire rest of the wizard spell list which they have no special rules for.

You seem to think that they're limited to only spells which are on one of the element lists - they're not.

BTW those lists were slightly expanded after the release of the APG to include some spells from other books. I think both d20pfsrd and AoN have the newer lists.

The updates are in Planes of Power. AoN has them, but unless they added them very recently, d20pfsrd does not.

The real weird thing about these is that Heat Metal is both a fire spell and metal spell, and fire is metal's prohibited school.

Yep, my bad.
