Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Do we have an order specifically dedicated to hunting pirates? Failing that, what existing Order first this best?

I believe there is an order referenced in the Hell's Rebels adventure path that is dedicated to protecting sailors on the sea: Order of the Torrent.

Actually, the Order of the Torrent is dedicated to finding and returning the lost. They specialize in hunting down kidnappers and finding lost children, which was how they were founded in the first place.

Order of the Chain might be a good fit. They focus on bringing in lawbreakers and slapping them in prison. Also perhaps Order of the Nail, which I thiiiiiiiink were devoted to helping civilization march forward, which pirates would obviously impede.
Unless I am thinking of Order of the Pike.

Torrent is probably not a good choice, as noted. Unless the pirates have kidnapped someone.

Order of the Pike is likewise specialized in monster hunting, and unlikely to go raiding the high seas for mere pirates.

Of the orders, I'd say the most likely pirate hunters would be Chain (bounty hunters), Rack (disbanding nascent revolutions), or Coil (based in Sargava, now Vidrian).

You can look up all the Hellknight orders on the Pathfinder wiki to read more about them.

Now I’m wondering if the Order of the Torrent might hunt slavers.

I'd say yeah, especially if they didn't have absolutely all the paperwork showing the slave was "legally" acquired at every step of the way. Moreso since Kintargo's independence.

Wait 'til September.

I would agree that Order of the Chain would probably be the best fit, but the Order of the Pyre is also noted as the only Hellknight Order to have it's own naval presence. Pirates are notoriously superstitious and the Pyre's focus is on stamping out 'cultists' and non-approved religions, so you could possibly swing it.

Reading through Path of the Hellknight and found this bit:

Path of the Hellknight pg. 37 wrote:

Maralictor Darriyashi Lonvod (LN male human inquisitor[APG] 7/Hellknight[ISWG] 2): One of the few Vudrani members of the Order of the Pyre, Lonvod captains the

caravel Hellcat, the fastest ship in the Hellknight fleet. An ingenious tactician and a staunch atheist, Captain Lonvod leverages his vessel’s speed, stealth, and surprising sturdiness to harry pirates across the Inner Sea. He has a cold but respectful relationship with many among Andoran’s Gray Corsairs and Rahadoum’s navy, having often driven lawless raiders or slavers into their paths. The Hellcat also has a reputation for stealthily slipping close to shores, off-loading small groups of Hellknights and their allies, and then slipping away unseen. As an Order of the Pyre sea captain, Lonvod indulges few superstitions, but under no circumstances will he allow tengus aboard his ship.

That's also something that was initially part of the Order of the Chain's schtick, more or less exactly how you described it, with the caveat being that they also hunted amd returned escaped slaves with equal fervor. I might be wrong but I believe that aspect eventually got superceded by the Chain's current description as bounty-hunters-extraordinaire, making it more palatable as an order for PCs so they don't have to condone slavery in-character (this is a good thing, as far as I'm concerned).
