Pathfinder 2 Rules to add to 5e

5th Edition (And Beyond)

Liberty's Edge

Now that PF2 is out, are there any rules people will be moving from that edition to 5e.

I'm eyeing the Bulk rules personally, and how Initiative is determined is interesting.

I would toss out the Inspiration rules and use the PF2 Hero Points instead.

I'd actually do the opposite if running PF2.

Hero Points are neat and all, but you're expected to hand one out for every hour of play. Which not only seems fast, but makes them not particularly tied to "exceptional heroic deeds" and more "generic adventuring". Hero Points are probably closer to 4e's milestone system than 5e's inspiration system.

Hero Points are begging to be the roleplaying reward mechanic and tied to acting in character.

The problem with Inspiration is that in most cases you have no idea when or even whether it will be handed out, so you have incentive to hoard your Inspiration even though you cannot gain a second instance of it (as you either have it or you don't).

D&D 4E's milestone system rewarded characters for soldiering on and not stopping to rest, but its downside was that the DM had no effective way to avoid having the reward pile up for characters who got into one easy fight after another.

PF2's hero points seem to be more manageable than either of these systems.

I don't think so. 5e is streamlined to allow groups to better focus on roleplaying instead of getting bogged down in rules minutiae. Porting more complex and fiddly PF2 rules seems counter-intuitive to me.

In my experience, the simple and traditional initiative rules of 5e are obvious even to newbies quickly, while explaining PF2 initiative again and again doesn't really appeal to me.

And for groups who want to track encumbrance or bulk, I generally prefer Matt Rundle's great anti hammerspace sheet. I am not convinced that bulk offers anything that isn't better solved by Anti Hammerspace.
