Pros and Cons of Mixed Manuever

Advice

Taking a look at Mixed Manuever and Comparing it to Flurry of Manuevers, it seems inferior, the one thing it has going for it is that the second attack doesn't take MAP. Another issue I see is that the prone condition and grabbed condition heavily overlap each other and with Mixed Manuever you have to use two different Manuevers rather than be able to do the same Manuever twice to ensure maximum success. Do people tend to pass on this class feat or does it have a place in the Monks arsenal for a manuever based Monk?

I think the idea is to mostly use it against different targets, like Tripping two enemies and then using FoB to strike at them.

Otherwise, I think that you probably want to prone to reduce their AC, and then grab them to apply things like Sleeper Hold.

Prone and Grabbed overlap heavily, but they require 2 actions to get out of, so it is a pretty solid way to lock a slippery enemy in place.

Wouldn't the FoB take a heavy MAP following a Mixed Manuever?

Mixed Maneuver is an ability that allows you to ignore MAP. This can be very valuable.

Flurry of Maneuvers with Assurance(Athletics) can be a useful third action after Mixed Maneuver; and Whirling Throw also ignores MAP and can be a useful third action after Mixed Maneuver.

Might be worth considering for a Bo Staff Monk so you can reliably trip two targets. You're tanking your damage for this so do it only if you have a primary damage dealer in the party that really feasts on flat-footed (like a Rogue or a crit fishing Fighter).

The way I read it, "choose any two" is ambiguous whether you can choose Trip twice. Opinions?

"choose any two" seems unambiguous - choose two different, not the same one twice. Doing the same maneuver twice is hardly mixing anything.

It is a bit vague though I think if I had to make a ruling Andy's probably right on the intent after thinking about it. That makes it a lot harder to take advantage of since there are currently no Monk weapons or unarmed strikes with two good maneuver properties.
