"This tincture lets you pinpoint your foes. For the next
5 minutes, your alchemical bomb Strikes reduce the
circumstance bonus to AC your targets gain from
cover.
Type lesser; Level 4; Price 14 gp
Reduce your targets’ circumstance bonus by 1.
Type greater; Level 14; Price 700 gp
Reduce your targets’ circumstance bonus by 2."

Ehmmm what?

Is it me, but this one per RAW doesn't "reduce the penalty from cover for your Bomb Strikes" but make those hit by your strikes have a constant, blanket "-x to their bonus from Cover for everything"?

And for how long is this "debuff" lasting? The full 5 minutes after you hit them?

Seems to me like they were trying for something else, but the end product does something different imo...

The writing is weird. It should have been: During 5 minutes, the circumstance bonus to AC your targets gain from cover is reduced against your alchemical bomb Strikes.

So it's not only me that's reading it as "it eliminates cover bonuses for all hit by your bombs" as written then.

Correct?

It's almost nonsensical, but I agree that would be my RAW interpretation. I would be surprised if this were not errataed.

Hence why I put it in the rules forum.

Not that I would mind the bit extra "debuff power" this gives to alchemists per Raw...

I'm now picturing this as, like, a super neon green paint bomb that instantly coats the targets and makes it much harder for them to hide behind anything. I...kinda like it?

But... it's not a bomb!

you have to drink the stuff and it changes your bombs.

I kinda dread what you could drink to start turning stuff in your hand to neon-green splashing things!

Yeah, it's what is written. What is weird is that they speak about a tincture, so, on paper, it could be that, you paint the enemy. But it's also an elixir...

Honestly, I like the effect, so, as a DM, I'll play it like it's written: Everytime you hit an enemy with a bomb, he's painted and thus you reduce his cover bonus by 1/2.

I mean that could be explainable for Alchemiist REagent based bombs. Since the bomber elixir could just be altering how your own essence reacts
"You infuse reagents with your own alchemical essence,"

normal bombs crafted by anybody is a bit weirder. Unless its that everyone has alchemical essence that gets added to crafted alchemical items. Whether they're an alch or not. and its just alchemists who have stronger versions of it.

and that elixir interacts with that lil bit given by the crafter to change the property when held

I was definitely reading it as it gives you a sort of telescopic vision for targeting enemies through cover rather than it having anything to do with the bomb itself.

it used to be.

but as written now, it doesn't give YOU anything, it deprives from the enemy.

so everyone actually benefits.

frankly speaking, I'm pretty sure the RAI is like the old Bomber eye's elixir (it gives you bonuses), but I'm not sure I'll change it to that or i'll keep the RAW version...
