King's castle on a mount

Rules Questions

If I cast king's castle and either I or the other target are mounted characters, would our mounts come with us? If I am not mounted could I target the other characters mount and the spell would move the mount and the rider?

I am essentially trying to setup a scenario where I would trade places with our party caviler, to give him an easy charge opportunity if an enemy has moved adjacent to him.

Or is there another spell that accomplishes this? (It doesn't have to be a paladin spell, as we also have a wizard)

I think the mounts don't come with you and you'll now be on each other's mounts.

The spell specifies only one target. If you were mounted and were targeted by a disentigrate spell, is your mount also hit with it?
So unfortunately, no. By RAW, it'd be just you, and whether or not you'd both be still mounted afterward is questionable.
That being said, it would be perfectly reasonable for a GM to go ahead and include the mounts in the teleport effect, I know I would at my table. But as the spell is defined it would definitely be a houserule.

Nope.

Hmm. Teleport to the cavalier, then quickened dimension door yourself, mount, and rider to your previous position. This doesn't leave you in the cavalier's original position, but since you're gonna be the wizard in this scenario then that's probably a good thing. (Difficulty: quickened dimension door isn't trivial to pull off.)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

A 8th level cleric with the Travel domain can do this easily. Dimension Hop as a move action to the cavalier, then Dimension Door to the needed spot.

Yeah, if the party has such a cleric, that's way better.
