So I'm probably missing something, but Bards are trained automatically in performance. The entertainer background gives trained in performance. Does that mean if I pick both, I'm only trained? Do I become an expert? Do I just pick a different one? But confused here.
See page 60:
"If you gain the trained proficiency rank in a skill from your background and would then gain the trained proficiency rank in the same skill from your class at 1st level, you instead become trained in another skill of your choice."

Whenever an option gives you training in a skill you are already trained in, you pick a different skill of your choice to become trained in. You don't upgrade to expert.
I'd figured it was train elsewhere, just wanted to be sure before I messed it up. Thanks!
