Question regarding giant instinct.

Liberty's Edge

The entry for giant instinct under barbarian seems to say a small PC can use a large weapon but then state they only gain access to a weapon one size larger than their category. Does this imply that a pc cannot purchase a large weapon at character creation if they are small even though they can technically use it?

I think this is an oversight- a giant instinct barbarian should have access to whatever oversized weapon they can use, whether they are large or small.

Alternatively, you could interpret it the other way and say that the ability to purchase a large weapon is superfluous for a Small giant instinct barbarian, because the bonus triggers when they use a weapon built for a Medium sized person, and they always have access to those because they're commonly available.

It depends how you interpret "such a weapon", either it refers to the Large weapon in the first sentence or the weapon built for someone one size larger than you in the third sentence.

Either way, it should get clarified, because I need to know if my Gnome Barbarian is going to be hauling around a Medium sized Bastard Sword or a Large sized Bastard Sword ;-)

Liberty's Edge

I think part of my confusion came from the fact that I'm still thinking in old pathfinder terms where a large weapon does more damage than a medium one by default. I understand now that the difference between the two is strictly the bulk so there would be no benefit from having a large weapon as a small barbarian. That being said I'm thinking of adding in a GM ruling that would allow a large weapon wielded by a small barbarian to give you +2 more damage but clumsy 2 instead of clumsy 1 because I desperately want to see my players goblin barbarian swinging around a sword meant for a hill giant or something. I may also add a speed penalty because he has to drag it around tip down behind him and maybe a stealth penalty because of an the noise it makes.

Dose Large/Huge weapons get biger dice?
Not sure how to count dmg in Larger form, I know that i dont change my stats but biger weapon is a biger weapon affter all.

No, they don't. Giant Instinct grants a lot of bonus damage when raging with a Large weapon.

as far as I've read, Med/Small are both the same size for EVERYTHING other than the actual Creature.

The wording says You can use a weapon built for a Large creature if you are Small or Medium (both normally and when raging). If you’re not Small or Medium, you can use a weapon built for a creature one size larger than you meaning as long as you're small or med you can use a large weapon but any other size you use one larger then you
