Of note:
Shang-Chi and the legend of the 10 rings; Mandarin, the real one big bad. Simiu Liu cast as Shang-chi. Awkwafina (sp.?) is in it?
Holy ^%$&$: Monica Rambeau, will be in WandaVision, already cast (Teyonah Parris)
Also speaking of Wanda, she is going to be in Doctor Strange: The Multiverse of Madness"
Eternals...big cast, including all the previously rumored folks
Loki: 2012 escapee timeline Loki

Black Widow coming in May 2020. Florence Pugh playing Yelena
If I am looking at this right, only things we are getting from MCU in 2020 (not counting existing Hulu shows) is Black Widow (May) and the Eternals (November). Most of the Disney shows seem to be 2021, except for the Falcon and Winter Soldier show, which is fall 2020
Also I assume this is just the first half of phase 4. Otherwise I would have expected some Black Panther or Guardians of the Galaxy 3 news, at the very least.

Jane Foster was basically the weakest link in the Thor movies (on top of the terribleness of Jane Foster with Mjolnir in the comics). If they wanted to highlight a kickarse female character in Thor 4, the Thor movies already have two that were great, Syf and Valkyrie.
Other than that, the rest of the news looks great. (Especially liking the REAL Mandarin!)

Kahnya,
I dunno. I LIKED the Jane Foster/Thor in the comics. But mostly I want what Jason Aaron did to reforge Mjolnir in comics to happen in the movie.
Also not sure I can get behind Jolie as Thena. Sersi, yes since Sersi is older...but not sure about Thena.
And yes (THE return of the REAL Mandarin!)

KahnyaGnorc |
I don't know enough about the Eternals to have an opinion on the casting choices.
Other news I liked (besides Mandarin):
-Strange and Wanda teaming up, with the Disney+ show and movie being explicitly linked.
-Zemo, with more comics-appropriate look, in Falcon/Winter Soldier
-Budapest in Black Widow movie
-Fantastic Four! (which hopefully means DOOM!)
-Mutants having a place in Phase 4, rather than waiting for 5 or 6.
-Blade!

A lot of that was the writing and direction. I always thought Jane Thor would be awesome but never in a million years did I think they would actually do it.

I'm excited for nearly everything announced, but my favorites are:
Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness!! Including Scarlet Witch!! And maybe some Elder Gods?!? (pretty please)
Blade!!! I loved Wesely Snipes in the role, but Mahershala Ali is a fantastic actor.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings!! WOOT!!! It finally looks like we get a real Mandarin, instead of that crap from Ironman 3.

I also thought the announced fourth Thor move news was very interesting. I didn't collect any of the female Thor run in the comics, but I kept an eye on it. As I recall, Jane Foster was fighting cancer in that run, so I'm curious to see if they go in that direction, especially considering with that title, it sounds like their going full comedy route.

Other than Doctor Strange, it doesn't seem like they had much news about other sequels.
Looking forward to Black Panther 2, although I wonder how they'll top Killmonger (Jordan's performance was excellent). I'll miss Forest Whitaker, but the rest of the cast was pretty decent (if not kick ass).
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 could also be pretty cool, since I guess they'll use that ending of Volume 2 and finally bring Adam Warlock into play. Maybe they'll have Groot finally full-grown again.
I thought I saw mention of another Ant-man/Wasp movie. I've enjoyed both so far, so that's another one I look forward to. Maybe they can spend more time in the microverse (or whatever it's called).

While the Eternals aren't for everyone, I recall reading Gaiman's take on them. I liked it a great deal.
Thena, generally, is sort of younger, more hot headed of the two main female Eternals shown in much of the comics.
Sersi is more calm, collected, but very much a planner.
In any case, we'll just have to see what comes out and what other things might be going on when we get through Phase Four and how that might set up the next round of Phases.

Ajax and Makkari (Macary above) are going to be female in the movie instead of male as in the comic.
I hope they get the personalities right.
Ajax was serious when needed and casual when he wasn't carrying out Zuras' orders.
Makkari was always had a laid back attitude, similar to a 70's surfer dude who didn't care much for authority figures.
As for Thena and Sersi, Thena is the older of the two and more of a closet rebel. She does some things her father, Zuras, probably wouldn't approve of, but she keeps it secret from everyone. Her public persona is that of a dutiful daughter. Sersi was always the more fun one in the beginning, but later comics made her more serious.
Edit: Just noticed Lia McHugh playing Sprite - another male in the comic being played by a female in the movie.

Big Bad will be Nightmare and the movie will go full Ditko. Now, Nightmare probably would have Mythos-esque critters at his disposal of the lord of the Fear Dimension. He'll need a lot of power to make an encounter with the two most powerful magic users in Marvel into a horror movie for THEM.

DerNils |
Scarlet Witch was always super bizarre powers-wise. She was a Mutant that controlled Luck or something, but half of the time People wrote her as a Magic-user because of her Name. There were even some stories where she learned actual Magic from her mother. It is all over the place.
Now the MCU One is supposed to be created by the Infinity Stone, but wether that means her potential was awakened or she was given powers wholesale is unclear.
Also, what with the Mages of the MCU also using infinity Stones (The Eye of Agamotto = The Time Stone) I guess there is simply no real boundary there.
Lets be honest, the Infinity Stones are Magic Items in anything but name, so establishing that they give you magic powers is not really far fetched.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings!! WOOT!!! It finally looks like we get a real Mandarin, instead of that crap from Ironman 3.
So, I'm guessing that Mandarin is the Fu Manchu figure for Shang-Chi, which fits pretty well and hopefully avoids most of the Yellow Peril stuff attached to Fu Manchu. (Not to mention the licensing issues.)

![]() |

Huh? Are you sure? I didn't think that was the Movie cannon I thought they just avoided talking about it because it had to do with mutants.
Yep, Strucker empowers her and Pietro with the mind stone. Check out the after credits scene of The Winter Soldier, Age of Ultron and explanation Vision gives to the team in Infinity War about why she can destroy the mind stone in his head.

That was long my theory of how this was going to play out.

I hadn't really thought of Mandarin and Shang-chi in the same context, but as soon as their names appeared together it made sense.

D23 News from Marvel begins today.
Today was all of the streaming announcements. Of note
Disney + will, on top of of the already announced shows, will also have new series focused on Ms Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk. Separate series just to clarify.
U.S. Agent will be introduced in the Falcon/Winter Soldier show. Played by Wyatt Russell
WandaVision is going to be apparently half a sitcom. Randall Park's Antman and Wasp FBI agent will also be on the show, as well as D'arcy from the first two Thor movies.
Tomorrow is movies. So...I would expect some big announcements

Thomas Seitz |

MMC,
With regards to Disney plus... YUUESS!!! For She-hulk, Ms Marvel AND Moon Knight.
Not sure I'm that stoked about US Agent...but then again not a huge fan of his.
I am glad that Jimmy Woo will show up again and MAYBE this will lead to Agents of Atlas...but I doubt it.
Mostly I want to know more about She-hulk, Ms Marvel and Moon Knight.

I'm a big Moon Knight fan, so I look forward to that one.
Also, She-Hulk seems like it could be pretty cool. I wonder if that means we'll see a guest appearance by Mark Ruffalo.
I never really liked USAgent, but I think back in the day they tried to write him as unlikable. Still, it'll be interesting to see how they bring the character into play.
It seems a weird idea to emphasize comedy for WandaVision. I thought that show was supposed to eventually lead into the next Doctor Strange movie which, based on the title, seems set up to be somewhat less than comedic.
What If....? is the other show I'm super exicted to see. Just the fact they're getting original MCU actors to reprise their roles (in voice at least) should be cool.

I think WandaVision actually comes FROM Doctor Strange's adventures in the Multiverse, not precedes it. At least that's my read I could be wrong.
My thought is (based on a comment made by Mackie) that MAYBE USAgent might be a foil in the sense the US government wants a REAL Captain America. I mean that's how it worked in the comics for a while...
I'm just happy to have Uatu in SOME form myself.
What I want to for She-Hulk is part lawyer drama, part Desperate Housewives, with a mix of good ole fashion comic book stuff.

MMCJawa |

My sense is that yeah, US Agent will likely be an antagonist (perhaps not full out bad guy but at least obstacle), since I think they have mentioned that the show will deal with the government not going along with Sam as the next Captain America.
Marvel had its movies new today, but not a whole lot more new info.
Ryan Coogler is returning for Black Panther 2, but they didn't give a subtitle yet
Kit Harrington will be playing Black Knight in the Eternals, while Gemma Chan will be playing Sersi. Which is super weird, given that Gemma Chan already popped up in Captain Marvel as Minerva. I guess playing a character in make up doesn't count?
Also...man that is a huge cast for that movie...

Thomas Seitz |

MMC,
Firstly with regards to Sersi, I still think Jolie should be doing that and they cast someone else for Thena. But that's me. I'm cool with Kit doing Dane since it's not a huge stretch. And yeah the cast for Eternals is pretty large. I'm also wondering how much of a role Druig will be in this movie...or will it be some one else (or something else.)
I'm really not surprised Coogler is doing BP 2. I mean that's how we kept Gunn on Guardians right?
I'm sure the government will be a role...but the comments again show me that MAYBE even though Sam got the shield...even he's not ready to go on as Captain America JUST yet.
