Confirmed!

"I am super excited to announce that I am down here in LA to film a Pathfinder Second Edition show with the awesome folk at @GeekandSundry! Stay tuned for more information!"
-Jason Bulmahn

Discuss! What does this mean, folks? I've always commented that Critical Role is the reason 5e did so well- could this be a genuine competitor move once more?

Odds are it's a one-shot demo session of PF2 - G&S pays the bills by selling those kinds of things occasionally (see also: Eric Campbell running the opening scenes of Kingmaker during the Kickstarter) but I'd be surprised if there hadn't been at least *some* prelim discussions for a larger project. They'll probably be looking at how many people tune in for the one-shot to gauge the size of any potential audience and whether any of that goes anywhere.

This is actually pretty cool to hear. I don’t expect it to compete against Critical Roll or 5e, but it’s a good call on ‘going to where the audience is’.

Im surprised that every big youtube GM/DM hasnt gotten a book for review. Though maybe there are a few more weeks for that

So, there has been a post on this forum before about streaming and PF2. I believe I even mentioned Geek & Sundry. I will not restart the debate of who made who as far as D&D 5e and Critical Roll. I think people forget D&D 5e was on the New York times best seller list before Critical Roll was thing. They were tracking subscribes, and was huge deal when they got 500 subscribers. Do I think they have both benefited from each others popularity for sure. However, D&D 5e was successful before Critical Roll. I think it was great idea to do streams and why I started a post about it. So, I am very excited for the news. Thank you for sharing it. I do hope it is more than one show. I think Geek & Sundry is good landing spot for PF2 since Critical Roll left.

I think these seems to be a one off notably because Jason has flown to (I presume) California

So that doesn’t seem like a regular thing unless he is just introducing them to the system and someone else will pick it up

Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I would agree since he is running his own show. Maybe though he could be down there to iron out an ongoing show. Fingers crossed.

Well on Arcane Mark it was mentioned about how he was worried about making rules mistakes . So it sounds like he is running a game and I assume therefore this can’t be a regular game

It doesn’t seem to track that he would run a game if 2E and then someone else from there would pick it up as GM

Not sure why the link would have changed.

This should work. Link

There are a couple of follow-up posts on Jasons's Twitter feed, but nothing ultra revelatory... yet.

I can't wait!!

Are you allowed to say when it will be released to the public?

Good luck Jason!

I wonder how many episodes they manage to shoot and what is the cast.

Hope the show is going to be great and wide audience will enjoy it, so we can get a regular PF2 show on G&S.

I don't know if this kind of teasing is even legal! LET US KNOW, JASOOOON!

On day 1 they were filming from 8am to 8pm (source). Unless G&S is filming multiple shows a day this probably means a lot of episodes for us, yay.

I am so happy to read this! I really hope that it works and new people get to know Pathfinder.

G&S needs a separate subscription, right?

I think most of their stuff eventually end up at YouTube, though twitch subscribers get it first.

I wonder if it is a new season of Starter Kit. I know they have done a handful of systems before. Each season is new players with various degree of experience and a new system. They have done Numenara, Phoenix: Dawn Command and Seventh Sea previously. At least those are the three I have seen.

The use of the word SERIES is very important!

Their paid side was discontinued this year. Given that and the fact that Paizo wants to reach a lot of new potential customers I expect (hope) it to be for free on Youtube.

Ah. Thanks

Today is the last day of shooting

That makes three days of filming, so we should get a good amount of content out of this. Can't wait!

I wonder if it is 3 days of filming that produces x amount of content and then Jason goes again in y number of months to do the same thing?

Or whether the 3 days is an entire adventure that has been recorded and will be it once done

I think the latter...

If they’re an average of 1hr long episodes with 12hr/day of filming then possibly 30 episodes i’d Assume? Up to 60 if 30min episodes, but that’s where i’ll Place my bet.

If we're taking bets-

My money is on 18 episodes at 56 minutes each per season. They release the show starting on August 1st and release 1 show per week with JB and the G&S team in chat on Twitch with a 1 week YouTube Delay.

They can fly Jason out in another 3 months to film S2 for a Holiday/Winter themed continuation of the same story, same characters which begins airing early-2020.

That seems... excessive. And a way to ensure a quality drop as people are increasingly exhausted each successive afternoon.

If it is long running, I hope G&S vetted the cast carefully. They often end up with a pair of enthusiasts carrying several lemons along for the ride.

Probably the filming itself was just a fraction of the production day. My guess is 2 or 3 episodes filmed per day, with the portion that was filmed edited down a bit.

I did some research, and found a post by Wil Wheaton where he mentioned that they were shooting the Tabletop RPG show "all week". The end result was 10 episodes that were each about 45 minutes (with some variation).

I don't know how well that translates to other RPG shows that aren't live, but it implies that you get about 2 hours of usable material in a day's shooting.

Pathfinder: Knights of Everflame is coming on July 30.

If I were Paizo, I would really see if I could put a bug in Matt Colville's ear about PF2. He is looking to have guests on to stream when he isn't running the Chain (5E game). He has also stated that he wants to run other systems on his channel. I think there is an opportunity there.

In many ways, many of the core philosophies of PF2 align much closer with how Colville runs his games than 5E. If Paizo can get him on board, that would be a major win.

I don't know much about Everflame except for Crypt of the Everflame being what Jason wrote and ran the Glass Cannon Podcast boys through as an introduction to the playtest (and served as my introduction to the GCP, thank you again for that). I enjoyed that story so I'm already intrigued by this title.
