Didnt he fly so fast he reversed the rotation of eath, thereby turning back time?

Supposedly...yes...in the reality of the movie...yes...

(In reality that would kill all life on the planet, but that's a minor kerfuffle.)

Not really good at doing the adjustments on the fly thing for not published stuff(like mythic) . I keep second guessing myself if it's a good idea or not and it just stresses me. I am a Mort-bot and I run by input codes.

There's no need to stress one's self out over rules in a game, which is why my group is as much RAI as RAW. We'd rather Rule of Cool something than spend 5 minutes or more of hunting down the actual rules.

I only stress out about rules when I'm sure it doesn't make sense to me. :p

In any case, Superman (along with a majority of DC Comics characters) have already proven they break the space time continuum in ways that just don't make sense... *coughSuperboy-Prime-Punches-Reality-to-create-new-realitiescough*

Huh. I guess I was out that day and missed it. I never heard of this particular shenanigan.

Cal,

It's how we got to Infinite Crisis...

OH...the one from the 80s? I do remember "Crisis on Infinite Earths" and all the hoopla around it. A friend of mine was collection comics then and he was all excited by the run.

No this was back in 2005-2006. DC was doing it as a kind of...I guess Homage to that...but it was more of "We're going to do some more continuity retcons because of stuff. And then we'll go back to stuff."

(EDIT: This wikipedia page explains it.)

I find that if I have not done sufficient research into the rules, then I have failed my players. By pointing the rulebook is there, I absolve myself of the responsibility.

Inconsistency of house ruling on the fly leads to chaos. And non equitable judgements.

This is why the groups I play in are pretty strictly RAW. Too many instances of GMs being uneven. Liks the one time I was in a game and the GM let one guy do pretty much anything, and then told another guy he couldn't do something that was specifically in the rules.

Yeah Mort is very structurally minded I've noticed. Shes very by the book. I think it would bother her to much to use rule of cool.

Yeah Super boy prime on COIE literally punched a whole into the dimensional fabric of the universe because that was a thing.

The thing about superman is his str is always as much as he needs it to be. So effectively infinite. So how do you step up on infinite str? Do things that are impossible even with infinite str. Heh random fact: I think me and T-lion worked out the math that a 256 str was more then enough to pick up the combined mass of the universe.

You guys just got to write down those house rules or you know agree that it is this way this time but will look it up after game and next time do it correctly. That's what I do.

We use a couple of house rules, that while not written down are known to everyone. Most of them have to do with disallowing certain classes/weapons/feats/etc... That's fine, since everyone knows what is up. But sometimes you get a GM who's just like "Yeah, that's cool. You can do that." for one person, but when another person asks to do something they just shut them down for no reason. That's unfair and leads to groups disbanding. Personally, I don't care if the game is strictly RAW or if there are 37 pages of house rules. As long as the rules are applied equally to everyone, and everyone knows what the rules are, then I'm good. But constantly changing the rules on the fly and in an inconsistent manner means I'm out the door.

I played with a guy and his wife once and his wife got obvious favoritism so we all quit so you are probably right. It was 3.5 and he gave her firearms for one. she was a drow too.

My first DM we always thought made up rules on the fly but then later digging through those 1st edition books sure enough it's in the book. Those books were so hard to navigate.

I AM A MAN!!

random thought: Gilgamesh is one of the worst hero stories IMO but its a decent coming of age story.

Thankfully my Gilgamesh alias is based on the Final Fantasy character rather than the Mesopotamian epic.

Oh excellent he is much cooler.

Hi mort, welcome back!

I've got a pdf of all my house rules. About 7ish pages.

Rules changes are not implemented at a whim; I talk with my players about any changes I'm considering. All rules changes are considered for a while, looking at potential unintended consequences. Rules interactions are important.

Same here. However, there is really only the one guy in my group I really discuss house rules with because the rest just answer my requests to create and collaborate with "Whatever, man. You're in charge". So just me and the other guy work on balance and utility for our games.

I have read none of this thread, and I use that fact to my advantage.

You see you can try to think about unintended consequences but all you need to do is to miss out one(and you're human so it'll happen) and people will abuse it. Then if you ban it people will call you out as a knee jerk reaction and you being unfair. Which is a big point to me. I try to get the stuff on equity right.

Hello everyone...anybody out there?

Nobody here but us chickens.

Cluck, cluck.

Mooooooo.

Is that some strange chicken cow hybrid...

Do you know what happens to a cow when it’s struck by a chicken?

The same thing that happens to everything else.

It goes "Baa." Just like everything else.

Yeah I gave up on trying to track DC/marvel timelines. Even my BF is confused and he's the one who read all the comics.

Oh, I'm not saying I'm perfect at it. Mistakes have certainly been made. But that's ok. Because human.

The big difference between the groups you've told us about and mine is that I'm playing with my significant others, and three friends (two of whom are married to each other) that I've known since the early 90's, and sometimes the kids are involved too. There's a lot of personal history between us all. If something isn't working, or someone thinks it might be abusive for our particular playstyle, we speak up and discuss rationally.

Every house rule we decide to implement is with the understanding that if it doesn't work out as we think it should, we roll back until we can decide how it can be tweaked to fix the problem, or we toss it on the pile to look at again down the road.

In the previous season finale, Gran Rey de los Melicamp was bitten by a were-cow. Then last episode, he was surreptitiously searching for a cure in the High Hedge Estate. When one of Thalantyr the Conjurer's golems showed up to investigate, he panicked and fled, stealing a cursed magic item, which chickenated him.

Also, Boo thinks you're just ducky.

Hello, everyone!

I have some good news! My mother's colonoscopy exam yesterday had a clean result. No polyps, lesions, or scars. The doctor said that she's good for another ten years. I'm pleased.

all I know is that when it comes to some DC stuff...it's pretty weird how they over do everything...and yet still I love the Justice League. :P

I haven't read comics in years, decades maybe. I have a friend who just can't get this through his head because he constantly asks me if I've read this issue of that or that issue of this. I really can't say what I told him one day on a PG13 rated forum.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Sokay Cal. I try not to ask people that don't read comics what they think of comics in other mediums.

Oh, I don't mind if folks talk to me about comics. But to obsess over them to the point that he actually memorizes and can recite individual panels from comics published in the 70s and then expects me to know what he's talking about makes me grind my teeth sometimes. Granted, he may be an undiagnosed person with Asperger's Syndrome, so if that's the case I can cut him a little slack.

I am so on budget. I'm living on a diet of brocolli, cauliflower, chickpeas, blackbeans, tomatoes, chayote, red pepper, firm tofu and chicken breast.

And its zucchini boat of zucchini, curry pork, French beans and carrots + a cup of cocoa cinnamon milk for breakfast.

I'm in a similar situation, though I just went and blew a bunch of money on a Mtn Dew and muffins.

MrT is larping the whole weekend, so I'm eating sauerkraut for 3 days!

I can go 2 days on Saurkraut. The 3rd day, well... I'd be eating cereal the rest of that time.

I massively overate on sauerkraut, mashes potatoes, gravy and smoked sausage.

Totally worth it.

I can lay waste to a skillet full of kraut and sausage. I am its doom.

That sounds like dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, and Roast Pork is New Year's Eve dinner.
