Supposedly...yes...in the reality of the movie...yes...
(In reality that would kill all life on the planet, but that's a minor kerfuffle.)

I only stress out about rules when I'm sure it doesn't make sense to me. :p
In any case, Superman (along with a majority of DC Comics characters) have already proven they break the space time continuum in ways that just don't make sense... *coughSuperboy-Prime-Punches-Reality-to-create-new-realitiescough*

No this was back in 2005-2006. DC was doing it as a kind of...I guess Homage to that...but it was more of "We're going to do some more continuity retcons because of stuff. And then we'll go back to stuff."
(EDIT: This wikipedia page explains it.)

And non equitable judgements.
This is why the groups I play in are pretty strictly RAW. Too many instances of GMs being uneven. Liks the one time I was in a game and the GM let one guy do pretty much anything, and then told another guy he couldn't do something that was specifically in the rules.

Yeah Super boy prime on COIE literally punched a whole into the dimensional fabric of the universe because that was a thing.
The thing about superman is his str is always as much as he needs it to be. So effectively infinite. So how do you step up on infinite str? Do things that are impossible even with infinite str. Heh random fact: I think me and T-lion worked out the math that a 256 str was more then enough to pick up the combined mass of the universe.

We use a couple of house rules, that while not written down are known to everyone. Most of them have to do with disallowing certain classes/weapons/feats/etc... That's fine, since everyone knows what is up. But sometimes you get a GM who's just like "Yeah, that's cool. You can do that." for one person, but when another person asks to do something they just shut them down for no reason. That's unfair and leads to groups disbanding. Personally, I don't care if the game is strictly RAW or if there are 37 pages of house rules. As long as the rules are applied equally to everyone, and everyone knows what the rules are, then I'm good. But constantly changing the rules on the fly and in an inconsistent manner means I'm out the door.

I played with a guy and his wife once and his wife got obvious favoritism so we all quit so you are probably right. It was 3.5 and he gave her firearms for one. she was a drow too.
My first DM we always thought made up rules on the fly but then later digging through those 1st edition books sure enough it's in the book. Those books were so hard to navigate.

You see you can try to think about unintended consequences but all you need to do is to miss out one(and you're human so it'll happen) and people will abuse it. Then if you ban it people will call you out as a knee jerk reaction and you being unfair. Which is a big point to me. I try to get the stuff on equity right.

Yeah I gave up on trying to track DC/marvel timelines. Even my BF is confused and he's the one who read all the comics.

Oh, I'm not saying I'm perfect at it. Mistakes have certainly been made. But that's ok. Because human.
The big difference between the groups you've told us about and mine is that I'm playing with my significant others, and three friends (two of whom are married to each other) that I've known since the early 90's, and sometimes the kids are involved too. There's a lot of personal history between us all. If something isn't working, or someone thinks it might be abusive for our particular playstyle, we speak up and discuss rationally.
Every house rule we decide to implement is with the understanding that if it doesn't work out as we think it should, we roll back until we can decide how it can be tweaked to fix the problem, or we toss it on the pile to look at again down the road.

Is that some strange chicken cow hybrid...
In the previous season finale, Gran Rey de los Melicamp was bitten by a were-cow. Then last episode, he was surreptitiously searching for a cure in the High Hedge Estate. When one of Thalantyr the Conjurer's golems showed up to investigate, he panicked and fled, stealing a cursed magic item, which chickenated him.
Also, Boo thinks you're just ducky.

Oh, I don't mind if folks talk to me about comics. But to obsess over them to the point that he actually memorizes and can recite individual panels from comics published in the 70s and then expects me to know what he's talking about makes me grind my teeth sometimes. Granted, he may be an undiagnosed person with Asperger's Syndrome, so if that's the case I can cut him a little slack.
