I read through the emails and my company is letting me claim up to $1,000 per year on fitness based activities (I.e gym membership, rock climbing classes, dance classes, canoeing, swimming classes, golf, run, sports competitions, marathons). I'm thinking how to spend it. Im considering getting the budget gym(can only go on weekdays and only before 4 pm - no issue, I never do my weights at night. Its always afternoon or morning) for like $80 for a year, then spend the rest for a climbing gym membership at $60/ month. So Mondays, Weds and Fridays I go lift weights while on Tuesdays and Thursdays I run to the climbing gym to start climbing. The idea really intrigues me...

Do you mean Wallace Shawn? And I don't know who Peter Cook is.

Well I'm just proud that so far I've been keeping with my work out routine. I did kind of hurt my neck a bit I think while I was doing Dumbbell Squeeze Presses. It's minor. I got to get all the old muscles to wake up again.

I dunno, I just bench press. The last time I tried to do more complicated moves(like a Turkish Get up), I just got confused.

all you do really is sit like you would for the bench press and get 2 dumbbells and put them together then pull them close to your chest then extend. It builds them chest muscles. I think I pulled a muscle or strained my trapezius (No google I spelled it right. I checked!) muscle while doing it.

So I heard a theory and I wanted some of the female forum visitors to weigh in on it.
Basically the idea is that society tries to condition women to be adversarial to each other. This would be a very subtle way men use to keep another level of power over women, but then their is also a theory that some societies condition all of us to be adversarial to each other regardless of gender. I feel like american society does that. I could see that as intentional on some level. What do you folk think. I'm thinking it might be very different for Mort for example since she is coming from a collectivist culture.
I do get that societies try and get you adverserial.
But the stereotype of adverserial women is something I do associate with american culture. You HAVE to get married, and you wedding better be better then others, otherwise you dont matter. Your fiance better get you a more expensive ring then your friends, or you dont matter. You better be prettier then other girls, or you dont matter. You better be more then X then other girls, or you dont matter.
Maybe its just movies with that theme, but yeah.

I think marriage should be a choice you make of your own free will and no one should be forced to marry. Marrying means you'll spend the rest of your life with that person (if nothing happens), and if there are major personality clashes that's going to be a long long time.
And I'm trying not to care about what the rest of the world think and just do my stuff.
Remember the aesop fable about the man, his son and the donkey? When you try to please everyone, you please no one, including yourself.

I want to disagree, but most women I have encountered will turn even percieved romantic and professional rivals into a smear on the wall faster than all but their most hot-headed male counterpart.

I'm studying cauliflower rice. Imagine if you could roast it before hand, store it in the fridge, then take it down to cook whenever needed.
It's fairly easy, fry the shallots and garlic, pull those cauliflower bits, plop in the shrimp(or chicken) and crack an egg in the centre then stir everything up while adding spring onion.

Also I have a sneaking suspicion that I may have been overtraining and possibly not sleeping enough. My resting heartrate in Taiwan was lower(50) then it is here(54ish). I am still considered by most normal peeps to have ice water for blood in the sense that I maintain relatively low heart rates even when running.
For long distance running, I try to keep my heart rate between 130 - 145. Anything above 150 is not sustainable for long distances.

My BF complained to his buddies I was torturing him through the Taiwan trip, since we clocked like 20-30k steps per day. Even though I woke up an hour earlier to do my exercise routine of 4 sets of 25 overhead squats, 20 push ups, 10 body weight rows and 15 reverse crunches or 100 burpees in sets of 20 with 1 min break in between, its still less tiring then what I do to myself normally.

I would say youre an animal Mort, but we already knew that ;)
Hey, Brie larson can crank out 4 pull ups and I can barely do one.
Ack, no MVPA(moderate to vigorous physical activity) clocked on fitbit despite going for Hiits. Damn =P
And that's one slight drawback for having ice water for blood.

I picked up pathfinder kingmaker. Which so far seems like exactly the baldurs gate engine. I do like the character options. It's a bit clichy however. keeps crashing on my but it auto saves often so it's not too bad when it happens. I do like the little story book aspect of it. Voice acting is pretty good too.

Just did my half marathon. Timing was 2h 21 min and dunno how many seconds.
Not the best of runs(left knee started giving problems at 12km mark) but 2 weeks on vacation in Taiwan will do that to you - 100 burpees on alternate days does not substitute for running very well.
Half marathon post mortem:
-Lack of training
-Training routes for long distance runs were too flat(did not sufficiently prepare me for elevation increases). I can do short but sudden increases in elevation(since I run up the hill near my workplace for fun during lunch), but all those long, but gradual inclines and declines I think messed up with my knee.
-I started too fast. Should have known better to think I could keep ahead of the 2:15 group (I did manage till about 13 km mark) when my usual pace is around 6'45/km by using caffeine and during race adrenalin (you usually run faster during the race then your practice runs).

IT's funny how when you do things like that slight deviations from what your used to can make a huge difference.
I learned something recently. Apparently the difference between a regular person and a Olympic runner in short distance is only like a 10% difference in speed. It ends up being just a few seconds which kind of blew me away. Although for longer distances where stamina comes into play it varies by a wider margin.
