One of my players will be unavailable for some months and his PC will be repalced by one of the Children. I'd like to give him the chance to join the party as soon as he can, so I wanted to send his PC on a mission. He has The Pathfinder's Exile bg, and he asked Ailyn how to become one of them, is there any Module that fits such a request? He is lvl 3 and maybe he could ask his friends's help (when the player comes back) at any time during the AP (hopefully before the group goes to Delvehaven)

Different question. What level do you expect the heroes to be when this player returns?
If it is when I suspect it might be, check out "The Book Bound Herald" on page 62 of Wayfinder 11.
The PC is a rogue. I hope he'll be back before 5th level.

The player will not play the new adventure, I need a mission to justify his absence, a mission that could also become a side quest for his old companions as soon as he is ready to start again. Such as "ehy guys, Ailyn sent me on a mission, but I can't deal it on my own. Would you help me with it and then go back to kick a*se in Westcrown all together?"

So you don't need is an adventure so much as a couple of stories you can steal and repurpose.
In this case I would send you back to the Wayfinder, in this case Issue #3 would be most relevant to your needs - but the fiction and story seeds in any issue could be quite valuable to you.
Actually, Issue #4 (which focuses on the Mwangi Expanse) could lead to some interesting connections to the CoT AP.

Just a follow up. Did you download a few issues of the Wayfinder?
If so, did you find something you could use?
