Chris has been such a terrific person to have at Paizo in the last several years and it's going to be a great loss to the company not having her around.

It seemed that, no matter what issue was being worked on, Chris was always a key person collating feedback from the community, liasing between the various teams within Paizo and generally getting stuff done.

Her time as community manager was exemplary - the way she handled the introduction of that role really made a great difference to the online community. And the way the forums have been managed since that change has only gone from strength to strength. Her ability to step into a heated, online debate and cool everything down with barely any pushback was remarkable to watch and a testament to quiet authority and the respect she enjoys from all of us. Similarly, all the work on the webstore and facilitating getting customer feedback to the tech team has been greatly appreciated over the years.

Thanks very much for all you've done over the years, Chris. I'm very sad to see you go, but really hope you're as successful in whatever comes next as you have been here, making the place so much better for all of us.

Agreed Steve.

Here's the thing about Paizo: the staff - on average - are exemplary people, both in what they do and in how they do it. Every time anyone leaves the company it's sad, because it's virtually never a happy day. Chris is another of those above-and-beyond people who I'll be sad to see go. I can only hope that the future for her is better than the future for us... because the future for us is meh without Chris.

Is this going to affect my order.

Congrats Chris you've always been a swell guy! :-D

I'll show myself out.

Seriously, you've always been a beacon of light in a sea of nerdrage, I'll miss you!

I've worked with Chris for the last 8 years and this is definitely going to be an emotional transition. Chris has been a coworker who has supported and collaborated with me on so much, and I'm going to miss having her here in the office. I know I'm lucky enough to be her friend outside of work as well and I know I'll get to see her on hikes or watching Survivor, but its still hard to say goodbye and know I'll be coming to work tomorrow without her here.

OK, this one hurts. Chris has been the bedrock of these boards for pretty much the entire time I have been on them. She has handled moderation issues and her other duties with respect for everyone. Her work through the RPG Superstar contests was incredible and I called out to that one year with a thread thanking her.

Chris, you are amazing and will be sorely missed! :(

Gah, not The Robot!

But then again, she survived so long in a customer-facing position in this industry with this kind of customers, it's a marvel she's still sane. Happy trails Chris and apologies for everything. I didn't start the fire, it was always burning.

I think Katina got the webstore coordinator job (that Rick used to do). I think Chris’s job was more the behind the scenes stuff (like PDFing and so on).

Could be wrong though - I get a bit lost in all the restructures and shuffles. :/

Chris,

Although I will be sorry to see you go, it is understood that everyone comes to a point where their journey follows a different path.

Thank you for everything you have done for all of us fans of Paizo products. Best wishes on whatever and whereever you journey takes you next.

Thank you!!

Yep, I'm Webstore Coordinator now, but I can understand how the lines are blurry. Chris did end up doing a lot of the webstore stuff, especially after Rick left. Now that they both are gone, some of the tasks will likely end up going to more relevant departments.

All I can say is that whoever is going to take over her role has got some large shoes to fill :)

Planes, trains, buses, cars, and legs are all options.

This is encouragement.

Seattle is also a damned expensive place to move to if you're not already used to the cost of living there or someplace like it, and Paizo is unable to pay moving costs (not a criticism, just pointing out a fact of their small business ops).

That said, I encourage the encouragement! Just noting it's more of a big deal than just picking up and going. Some folks just can't do that.

And who knows?

If I brought this job opening to the attention of somebody who wants to move to the Seattle area and work with JIRA, I would have been glad to help out.

Cost of living isn't a big change, and may in fact be cheaper, as I live in San Francisco proper. Moving costs on the other hand are less good, and I also don't really meet the other requirements. :)

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 8

Oh, yeah, that would actually be more affordable. Heh, I work at a major university in the mid-Atlantic. We once brought over some colleagues for a conference, and I told them I could get them a room block at our university rate. They said, "Don't bother, your Four Seasons costs what a Motel 6 costs in San Francisco, we'll take care of it ourselves."

I definitely encourage folks to apply to Paizo, just noting moving is no small thing.

It is always a sad event when a Paizo employee leaves! Pleasant days and nights ahead, Chris!

Seattle is too busy these days. SeaTac is not too bad though. :)
