If I apply trompe l'oeil template to a vampire, does it still have vampire powers / weaknesses?

Rules Questions

I'm considering applying trompe l'oeil (from Horror Adventures) to a vampire in my campaign, so that she's a trompe l'oeil painting of a vampire, but I don't know how the trompe l'oeil template will interact with the vampire template.

Trompe l'oeil template can be applied to any corporeal creature with an intelligence score.

It would change the vampire's type from undead to construct. I think the vampire would still have all the normal -vampire- weaknesses (sunlight, garlic, holy symbols, etc.), but would no longer be undead, so wouldn't have the standard undead weaknesses (harmed by positive energy, and so on). Is that right? (For my own game, I might homebrew it and give it negative energy affinity anyway though.)

If the vampire doesn't lose vampire features, could a trompe l'oeil vampire create spawn? As I interpret it, it would be able to, and they'd be standard vampires/vampire spawn.

It loses any abilities and weaknesses that it gets from being undead, so negative energy affinity, bonus HP from charisma, and so on. However, it keeps the abilities of being a vampire, so yes.

In this instance, yes, the painting can indeed create undead spawn. If you wanted to, you could make a very cool alteration to the ability (as the GM, you can do whatever you want!), and have any spawn that the vampire creates also be trompe l'oeil themselves, and they appear in the background of the main vampire's painting. The body itself could be affected or not, it's up to you, but it would be a cool twist on the normal powers.

That would lead to a lot of amazing plot hooks:
"That isn't blood! It's paint!"
"...That's strange, I never commissioned a group portrait."
Maybe rub garlic powder on the painting, and it couldn't jump back in?

Cool. That's what I thought, but I wanted to hear it from someone else too.

In the case of a trompe d'oeil, the vampire wouldn't even lose HP from Charisma from loss of the undead type, since trompe d'oeil have CHA bonus to hit points as part of the template. :-) Trompe d'oeil gain CHA to hit points AND gain a bonus to hit points based on the creature's size.

I have a moroi vampire in my campaign that I've written into the story as the last surviving vampire bride of Viscount Oilic Galdyce, a nosferatu vampire mentioned in Rule of Fear, the Ustalav campaign setting book. It says Galdyce was believed destroyed in 4686 AR (or 4685, forget which). He was mentioned in his short couple sentences as having a "seraglio of vampire brides." Since he's a nosferatu, he can't actually create his own brides, but anyway, I assumed she somehow escaped the attack on Oilic Galdyce and his brides. If I make her a trompe d'oeil of a moroi, that answers how she survived. She was "destroyed" but since her painting was left intact, she came back.

Honestly, the one thing that stops me from making this conversion is that I try to fit all of an NPC's stats on a single printed page (at 6.5pt font) and I'm sure the trompe d'oeil features would bump it to two pages.

If I add the template, I'll just throw on negative energy affinity as a homebrew effect, since I still want it to behave the same in that respect.

Thanks for the confirmation.
