Does True Strike work with Black Tentacles?

Rules Questions

It seems like it would work, but it also seems pretty darn powerful. Opinions?

Every creature within the area of the spell is the target of a combat maneuver check made to grapple each round at the beginning of your turn, including the round that black tentacles is cast. Creatures that enter the area of effect are also automatically attacked. The tentacles do not provoke attacks of opportunity. When determining the tentacles’ CMB, the tentacles use your caster level as their base attack bonus and receive a +4 bonus due to their Strength and a +1 size bonus.

In my opinion it would not work. The tentacles do not benefit from the caster's attack bonuses, any more than a summoned creature would.

I don't think it would work as the Tentacles are the ones rolling, not the caster no? It uses the tentecruel's str and size bonuses no?

Silver Crusade

+1 for no, it's another creature, your attack bonus means nothing.

Another No vote for the reasons mentioned.

Big fat no. Matthew Downie nailed it in the first response. It isn't the caster's attack roll to boost--it's the spell effect's attack roll. It'd be like casting true strike and then crafting an arrow trap and expecting the latter to get the bonus.

Thanks, everyone. Much appreciated.

True Strike would work if the Caster were making the Grapple Check, but it seems clear from the description of the spell that 'Tentacles are making their own check.
