I didn't see one given in OP. Is there a specific word count goal for equipment articles?

I'm also curious about the word count goal for equipment articles.

Unless otherwise stated, articles are 750 words (1 page) or 1500 words (2 pages). These would be articles with a stated theme that ties the items all together.

If we get enough good single equipment items that are varied, then we do a marketplace article picking and choosing the best ones, in order to make an article.

So....you can come up with a themed article with all your own equipment items OR you can submit individual items (up to 750 words, will count as one submission) and if we get enough to make a larger article, we'll pick our favorites and do just that.

Make sense?

Starfinder Superscriber

Dangit... I have what I think is a great idea for a flavor article + theme, but I'll be danged if I have the time to write it.

The bad news is that I'm not sure I'll have time to do anything for this issue after all.

The good news is that it's because I've suddenly got several other Starfinder-related projects on my plate that I can't talk about yet. ;-)

(I've really gotta learn to submit to Wayfinder when I actually have time, instead of waiting until the last couple months.)

Currently working on my first ever submission: two Rules articles with some spells! Looking at some past issues of Wayfinder, a spell article can include a short blurb before the first spell that provides some background for the group of spells (ie. who made them, where they came from, etc). Is that appropriate for this issue?

Yes, quite appropriate.

I look forward to seeing your entries.

Inspiration has struck! Working on a pair of themes. From the formatting in WF 19, I'm guessing you want a tab between each name and the score bonus. Is that correct?

Yes. That is usually a Header 1 line, with a theme name[TAB]+1 XXX

No, you can do it. Write up an asteroid! Create a bit of story. Do a setting piece. You can write something for wayfinder!

This! Find inspiration and write! Don't worry about the systems! Worst that can happen is that you get a no, but that still lets you practice writing!

Alright... just wrote 4 themes to make a 1500 word count. Trying to decide if I have the time to finish the short story I'd started...

I went for a flavor article because that's where inspiration struck, hopefully you will all enjoy it.

OPEN CALL UPDATE:

We are ONE WEEK OUT!

As of this morning, we have 58 submissions. Here's the breakdown:

Alien Archives: 13
Class (Archetypes): 3
Equipment: 3
Fiction: 7
Flavor: 10
Games: 1
Rules: 6
Side-trek Seeds: 5
Starships: 7
Weal or Woe: 3

We are doing well on monsters, flavor, and starships. We have a fair number of submissions in the other areas. Class options and equipment are still pretty low.

I will say that this is a REALLY good number of submissions to have, especially a week out from the deadline. Well done everyone!

For all of you still working on your submissions, keep at it! We want to see your ideas!

Working on a Weal or Woe.
Got the writing done, just trying to get some character art done as well. Might be down to the wire.

actually this lets me bring up some questions.

-Are there any requirements related to art?
-Can I send in my writing first to get that locked in, and art in a later e-mail?

So art is a totally separate process.

Art is done by artists that are added to our art roster. This is a list of artists that have expressed an interest in illustrating Wayfinder, and understand and agree to the terms and conditions (and understand it's a volunteer effort for a community project). I have no problem with the author wanting to illustrate their article, but it has to match the overall standards of the magazine. So, I'd need to see your portfolio or gallery, or examples of your art, just like artists on our roster.

So, let's focus on getting your submission in FIRST, and if selected, we can talk about the art.

And, if you want to be considered for the art roster, by all means, send us an inquiry and a link to your gallery or portfolio. We are ALWAYS on the lookout for new artists!

Okay, I just punted two more themes your way.

I'm going in closer to one of those big ones.

Sent in my submission! Wishing everyone else good luck!

Best of luck to everybody who submitted! I hope my equipment and weal/woe pages are passable!

And with that....the Call for #20 is closed. 87 submissions this year! Great turnout!

Thanks to everyone who submitted, and to all our supporters out there that helped spread the word.

Time to get started!

I enjoyed writing a new monster, and enjoyed writing the unexpected theme that popped into my head from writing the monster even more. Two submissions, when I only expected to be doing one.

Same; the wait's the worst part. Hopefully, the email will come in a few weeks.
