Advice needed on a Doom Slayer character

Advice

Got an idea from a guy on Reddit. I'm looking to make a demon/daemon/devil slayer with brutal combat in mind. I'm sure there are all kinds of different class combos and such. From barbarian/gunslinger/brawler, to paladin and gunslinger and so on. But I want to make something that is fun to play, kicks ass and feels like a real demon hunter. I would love to hear other people's ideas and see if can make something fun to take through a world-wound type fighting campaign!

If you have brutality in mind then a barbarian or bloodrager probably fits best. But I'm curious, what does a real demon hunter feel like?

DOOMGUY.

If you want a demon slayer, the Ravener Hunter inquisitor works well. The Tortured Crusader paladin archetype, while weaker than the standard paladin due to the loss of divine grace, is still thematic and powerful enough.

Wouldn't DOOMGUY just be a Ranger?
Archetype: Demonslayer + Cinderwalker Combat Style: Menacing.
1st favored enemy: Outsiders(evil), 2nd favored enemy: humans.

Throw in a feat for Heavy Armor Proficiency, and Technologist. Have the GM promise you that someday you'll find a magic Chainsaw and spend the feat when you can to use the exotic weapon. Also consider picking up Firearms proficiency.

Though really for fantasy DOOMGUY you could just be wearing a Full Plate armor made from some exotic material. Noqual would look right. So would Green Dragonhide. Adamantine is a good choice, but if you go there you might consider going for a high tech armor.

Then use whatever weapons you can gain from the demons you fight plus what their victims leave behind. AKA: normal adventuring.

Yes, but what does 'DOOMGUY' feel like? I couldn't afford a computer that could effectively play Doom when it first came out and so I never got into first-person shooters. I'm not familiar with it.

I'm not a big FPS guy either (other than Half-Life). For me, he's up close and personal, and he hates these guys for some personal tragedy, so he's made it his life mission to destroy them. He gets real satisfaction every time one dies. He'll study whatever way is most effective to kill them, but derives more satisfaction from being up close.

The most recent DOOMGUY is:

Extremely Fast and Agile
Heavily Armored
Never encumbered
Capable of tearing apart demons of any size with his bare hands
Heals himself upon tearing apart said demons
Can dent/destroy solid metal with his bare hands
Proficient with Firearms/Technology

Translating that to Pathfinder is difficult in the extreme, leaving you with probably a Ranger/Savage Technologist Barbarian/Brawler of some sort. Likely with mythic tiers, cause he is a one man army.

However, the older dooguy is most likely just a trench fighter archetyped fighter and a loaded dice.

Though a ranger with a rabbit animal companions works pretty well too.

I feel like the guns are secondary. Being able to tear demons apart with your bare hands is essential.

I am going to also suggest barbarian. Sturdy, brutal, and fast.

Brutal Pugilist for the win...

RIP AND TEAR, until it is done!

So people tell whispered tales of Demons that slip through fishers in the dimensions to wreck havoc and destroy the civilization of men. Horror stories of remorseless creatures driven by pure hatred.

Demons whisper tales of the DOOMGUY doing the exact same thing. They actually raised shrines around the place where they managed to seal him in Lava at great sacrifice warning future generations of demons of what lies burried within the shrine. They also warn that the DOOMGUY can not be killed, only contained. His fury and wrath knows no rest.

He's probably just a fighter. it's not like he had special training fighting demons prior to his first encounter. But he's also completely proficient in literally anything he he picks up and the same with armor. I can't speak for the games after the 1st two, but the original version of Doomguy was just a highly skilled soldier. He doesn't have any notable innate powers or abilities meaning everything he has probably just adds to his attack bonus and damage. He doesn't even heal on his own.

Gunslinger(gun tank) 5/hellknight 10

Heavy armored, still agile, good with guns. Maybe throw in 1 level of brawler

So, here's an idea that might work. We know the Doom Slayer will work with people he has issues with as long as they don't get in the way of his crusade against demons, right?

This leads me to believe that the Insinuator Antipaladin archetype might actually work pretty well for this kind of character.

Problem with Insinuator is that ultimately you're still beholden to your temporary patron. Doom Slayer, while he may work with more sketchy folks like Hayden (presuming the general goal is kill demons) is absolutely not beholden to them. That's the whole bit with destroying the Argent Tower rather than just shutting it down after all.

Honestly, after looking into it the Doom Slayer should just have the Inevitable Stalker template without the speed debuff or special qualities.

His hands actually never seem to be "bare". He's always wearing gloves or gauntlets of some kind. Just give him some adamantine gauntlets or cestus.

Now all you have to do is find something with HUGE GUTS!

As well as all 3 feats in the Shield Gauntlet Style tree.

Do you mean implacable stalker?

If you want to wade through evil outsiders a ranger is going to be your best bet. Max out your favored enemy , and you will have no trouble with taking them down. Other classes can occasionally do more damage, but nothing takes out hordes of specific monsters like a ranger with a maxed out favored enemy. A paladin’s smite evil may do more, but he can only use it a limited number of times per day. Favored enemy bonus also applies to perception to spot them and knowledge skills to identify their abilities.

Rangers get some healing spells so that also fits.

One thing to keep in mind is that you are not going to be able to exactly create the character from the video game. You can get something close. Figure out what is important and be willing to compromise on the rest.

What do you think about rangers vs slayers? I love the favored enemy, and would love to integrate studied target into it if possible.

Also, would the suggestion be the same if we were in an undead-heavy campaign?
