This would have been so much better if he performed a Picard Maneuver at the end on his coat :)

Maybe next time, Pan.

Picard is likely a diplomat now. Destroying everyone in front of him with infinitely blueshifted radiation is probably going to be taken as an extremely hostile act.

Hmmm? Oh, you don't mean that Picard maneuver, you mean the other Picard maneuver.

I hope they don't oversaturate the market with Star Trek like the way Disney is doing with Star Wars. There's a rumor of at least a Captain Pike miniseries spinning off Discovery.

New Trailer

I wonder if it's the original actor playing cards with Picard at the end.

Cape,

I'm assuming so. But I could be wrong. What I am impressed with is that his FEELS like the continuation of stuff from ST: NG, DS9, and Voyager all done properly.

Yes, that's quite obviously Brent Spiner, albeit under a bit more makeup than back in the day, and he attended the Comic-Con panel.

As well as Seven and B4, who play a larger role, the panel also confirmed that Hugh Borg, Riker and Troi will also be back, although it sounds like Riker and Troi might just be a cameo.

Probably for the best, them cameo-ing. Will takes up too many scenes I felt.

I think Star Trek is a little less vulnerable to this than Star Wars...there have been periods of time when multiple series overlapped, and I think the setting and themes are not quite so narrowly focused as with Star Wars

I think you're right about this. It never occurred to me before and it makes a lot of sense.

Oh wow, that new trailer is something. Suddenly I am very excited for this and very glad to be Canadian cause We're getting it on our Space channel and I don't need to pay for a streaming service to watch it.

Also it's giving me a weird kind of Firefly vibe. This is not Picard on a Federation ship. This is a small ship with a much closer group of people. Not as clean, not as shiny but still people who are loyal to Picard the man, not the uniform.

Grey,

Which is good, because while Janeway was a decent captain, I'd trust Picard more. He might be fallible, but he always struck me as the most...moral maybe? of all Starfleet captains?

Star Trek: Picard | NYCC Trailer, premieres January 23rd, 2020 on CBS All Access.

I really hope this doesn't turn into a band of plucky renegade, outsider heroes always one step ahead of the law, because that's sort of what it's coming across as to me.
