Where is the thread about the qualitative ranking of GM Nova / Glyphs?

This was posted in an earlier blog post by Tonya.

"At this point, we have a potential rubric. A massive shout out to Chris Marsh, whose original version provided the basis for our discussions. As I don't want to clutter this blog with a conversation about the rubric, I will post it in a discussion thread on our forums. The thread was opened last Friday, May 3 and you can find a link to it here. We will take feedback for one week. After that, we will lock, load, and publish the rubric for future use."

Where is this thread? Some have asked where it is and I have not seen a response. I would like to have the opportunity to look the rubric over and comment on it if I feel I need to do so. Could someone please post a link to this thread?

Thank you in advance.

I can only guess that its in some private forum and they need to review it before the make it public, or extract the key bits and repost. The lack of response in the thread announcing it makes me think whatever is going on is more complicated technically/procedurally than they expected.

You mean this one?

It's on a paizo blog post, they're always a lil hard to find.

No, we mean the thread mentioned in this blog post:
https://paizo.com/community/blog/v5748dyo6sgmh?May-UpdateSpotlights-and-Con ventions#discuss

That says it lists the actual rubric, not just the hypothetical existence of one.

:( It got eaten by goblins. Or at least, that is my take, since I can find the thread but none of the text I added.

I'm working to redo it now and should have it up tonight.

"See! THIS is why we shouldn't have goblins as the 'acceptable' new race. One thing to remember about True Dragons is that we control our appetites for the greater good of our community!"

Waiting to see the considerations involved with a qualitative rubric in *addition* to the 'acceptable' 'good practices'.

Thank you, Tonya!

As someone who will be giving the rubric its first test drive at PaizoCon, I would like to be able to have time to study it myself!

Thanks, Tonya! I have a feeling that there will be a need for the community to address the proposed change.

Obviously its a busy time of year for all of Organized Play, but do you have a new estimate for when this will be posted?

As my first 5 nova review is tonight.... they might be helpful.

Considering that the concept of qualitative rankings was not met with enthusiastic support I'm sure it would be helpful.

Apparently, survey participants want the 5 "things" to mean something, of course, how high the barrier to entry should be is subject to discussion.

If everyone that fulfils the substantial quantitative requirements also aces the qualitative test, that can mean a lot of things:

- requirements are too low
- all of our very dedicated GMs are also excellent
- our evaluation process needs work
- trying to measure subjective GM quality is a lost cause, since what one person describes as an awesome GM, can still deliver a subjectively terrible table to a player if the GM has a bad day, or the GM/play styles just clash

Personally, I think the quantitative requirements are worth celebrating for the service they have done to their community (less so if all or most of them have been private tables YMMV).
When it comes to GM quality, having something to measure yourself against should be useful for GMs trying to improve, I doubt that it will be relevant to most players.

If a GM is wrong about something, the number of symbols after their forum handle really does not matter, and if he is right, they still don't.
Sometimes things are not clear cut and the GM needs to make a ruling, the experience can help, but we are all shaped by experiences and no number of stars increases the chance that the player will be happy about the ruling.

If every subject passes the test the test might be bad. If most subjects pass the test that doesn't have to be a bad sign:

* Quality was already high and this just confirms it.
* Setting out expectactions among a number of different aspects (rules, pacing, immersion etc.) allowed the GMs working their way up to five wazoozits to learn effectively.

Tonya, is there any update on the rubric? I am evaluating someone at PaizoCon, and someone was evaluating Glenn Parnell this week (I'm assuming that they took very good notes, and will backfill once they get the rubric.)

Any update would be appreciated.

♫ Chris Marsh suggested a rubric test
It was to coach our very best
To be a guiding light
To set things right
But no one knows, what’s been proposed

We need the Rubric someday
We really need it someday soon
I press CTRL-Z every new day
Still, I have missed you

Hard to prepare for standards we cannot see
This is not the way it has to be
This just can’t be feigned
Without it no nova’s gained
The eval’s lost, at such a cost

We need the Rubric someday
We really need it someday soon
I press CTRL-Z every new day
Still, I have missed you ♫

Bumping this back up. I've promised to evaluate Gary Norton at PaizoCon, and I'm really hoping that both he and I will know what criteria we're using for this!
