Even with Meta-magic, the whole system is not flexible enough, it doesn't reflect the realities of injury by burns or by electrocution. If could funnel burning hands into a jet you would have WW2 flame thrower. Shocking Grasp simulates a high powered taser were we can have "Big Yellow Mama" experience and not be debilitated for one or more rounds, or at least have a bad taste in their mouth and sluggish feeling. Illusions are simple, you let the illusion go through and roll for disbelief, remember sometimes the most absurd things are the easiest to believe.
War is cruel, battle is bloody, painful, and demoralizing. A mage should bring the sternest warrior to pause.

And remember it is only a game. have fun.

It looks like everyone loves transmutation. Evocation is almost popular, with its only downside being that it's a bit...feeble.

I would like to nominate transmutation as best school, for being the only one not mentioned as least favourite in the entire first page.

Transmutation is OP.

Yeah, transmutation and conjuration being the best schools of magic has been unquestioned since the 3.5 days. Their abilities are too versatile for them not to be.

Transmutation (especially) and Conjuration also have the most spells.
