Looking for a theme for my card-dealing skittermander Xenodruid

Advice

Second Seekers (Jadnura)

My skittermander, Xeeter, is a professional card dealer from the Vestrani Gaming Complex in the Solar Archipelago, Verdeon. Since Verdeon is filled with gorgeous floating gardens, I figured that my little skittermander works as a card dealer there in the evenings so that he can have his days free communing with the some of the most spectacular gardens in the Pact Worlds. Plus he worships Oras, and I feel that the randomness of both evolution and card games appeal to him on some level, and that he sees a synergy between the two.

But I am having trouble figuring out my theme for this guy. Xenowarden, Xenoseeker and Biotechnician are nice, but I don't want one of the obvious Xenodruid themes here. Same deal with Priest. Yep, he worships Oras... but I don't think I need to dive into the priest theme for this little guy. Themes are where I pull out the twist that nails the character and makes him really interesting to me.

So... What should be his theme? Should I go Solar Disciple? That seems more Sareraenite than Orasian. I'm looking for some suggestions that can give me a better idea of who this little guy is.

Actually, the more and more that I think about this.... The more I think I should go with Outlaw theme. Xeeter is working for a crime family as one of the card dealers in their casino, but has heard the call of Oras everytime he goes out into those beautiful gardens. And as a bonus... I'd get sleight of hand as a class skill, which is surely a skill that any card dealer would need.

The only issue that I have with this character now is where the heck I put his skill points now! With only six skill points as a mystic, I am going to need to hoard those skill points like gold.

I need for this character concept:
Mysticism -- Mystic, yo! Also, it'll be how I do ship combat.
Life Science -- For Oras & Xenodruidness
Sleight of Hand -- Because of Card Dealer
Profession Gambler -- Because of Card Dealer

That leaves one skill point, and I still want Diplomacy, Perception, and Sense Motive. So many hard choices!

Well, personally, if the Card Dealer is as big a part of your character as it seems, then Perception or Sense Motive are the two clear options to me.
However, I would say consult with your other players. You probably don't want to end up choosing one of those and then be continually overshadowed by another player. Since you're a card dealer I would also talk to your GM and see if your Profession Gambler might work as an alternative Perception/Sense Motive (since catching cheaters is half an actual card dealers job in real life). This would free up that skill point to go into Diplomacy if you really want that.

My suggestions, in order of descending relevance and added flavor to your character.

1) Outlaw - I like Hmm's suggestion and Sleight of Hand is very thematically relevant. That said, because you skill points are valuable, I'd suggest forsaking Profession for now to pick up Perception and Sense Motive (as you are just a dealer, not specifically a player).

2) Corporate Agent - this adds a corporate peon flavor. The relevance here is in being the fly on the wall for bigwig people's vacation. The reduction in DC for corporate things signifies what Xeeter has heard while at work.

3) Wild Warden - this signifies his dedication to his hobby. Not only does he get powers from 'nature' as it were, but he is also an enthusiast. The DC reduction resembles his love and desire for knowledge about that area of expertise.

Xeeter's for Organized Play, and so will always be in a somewhat random grouping of other SFS characters. There's no building him with the other players and the GM -- just working with what you have.

Outlaw was my first thought as well, though doesn't seem like a perfect fit. There's themeless if nothing else matches, though I personally find themeless boring...

death touched! and he's a bit of an emo card dealer!
