So, we know spells can mimic class features...but how many?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

So, spells can do things that some folks spend their class levels trying to gain. For instance, Sense Vitals gives you Sneak Attack of up to 5d6 which is great on Bards (and why folks always seem to prefer a Bard to a Rogue in my games).

What other spells just straight up duplicate class features? What spells out-pace class features? I'm curious.

Off the top of my head (Tenser's) Transformation gives profiencies and BAB equal to level. It's not worth it unless you're already built to Gish though.

Searching finds the following:

Oracle's Burden can give people an oracle curse. You need to have one to cast it in the first place and it only gives the negative effects.

Bestow Grace and Bestow Grace of Champion give a bunch of Paladin abilities.

There are a bunch of 1st level spells that make unarmed strikes lethal and not provoke an AoO. Most of these stack with actual IUS/monk levels in some way.

Hunter's Friend and Forest Friend give some ranger/druid abilities. You need to have the abilities to give them with Hunter's Friend and Forest Friend doesn't explicitly call itself say it's Woodland Stride.

Pass Without Trace is often tacked onto nature archetypes/class options. More of an inversion since those duplicate the spell's effects.

Class abilities tend to be more action economy friendly - longer lasting or even constant, or as with bardic performance (at higher levels) requiring less than a standard action to activate. Not always, true, but in many cases this still gives them a niche even when the spells exist.

That said,

Ashen path allows sight thru fog/mist, duplicating the flamesinger bard's big trick. Terribly misleading name on that spell.

Monk abilities are often repurposed spells, especially qinggong options. Notably abundant step = dimension door, and slow fall < feather fall.

A blaster sorcerer can do a kineticist's main trick (kinetic blast) so long as their spells hold out. With their highest level spells they can do it better.

Tactical adaptation or paragon surge can do martial flexibility, with less limitations albeit without the multiple feat options at higher levels.

Aram Zey's focus does trapfinding and then some.

Edit: note, you could probably find some more by going over the list of things banned in PFS.
