OK. You're going to want to have a decent CMB since you will be using repositions a lot. Also you'll be using a quarterstaff which isn't easy to finesse, but you don't have to use it early on and spear dancing spiral gets finesse to it eventually. You want at least Wis 14 for the flowing monk abilities, even early on. So: Dex 15+, Wis 14+, Int 13+ at the start, and preferably Con 14+ since you want to survive, Str and Cha can be dumped.
If you choose a race which gets +Dex/Int or +Dex/Wis which drop either Str or Cha then on 20 point buy (assuming grippli; +Dex/Wis, -Str) you might have without much dumping
Str 10-2 = 8, Dex 15+2 = 17, Con 14, Int 14, Wis 14+2 = 16, Cha 8
Or on 15 point buy with a bit more dumping Str 7/Dex 16/Con 14/Int 14/Wis 16/Cha 7.
If you're concerned about damage before getting magus levels then lower Wis to 14 and raise Str to 10-11. Still not great, true. You could make a Str build entirely and drop Dex but it's not clear to me how Str monks don't die like flies.

Well I am either going Human or Grippli
But I plan to be Dex Based
Not going to focus to much on Damage through my staff will use spells for that.
But I want a good focuses on Trip
First, remember that size limitation on most combat maneuvers. Human (or undine?) might be better than grippli with that in mind. Also you are obviously going to want improved trip - you can get it as your L1 bonus feat if you're not starting at that level, otherwise getting weapon finesse first will matter. A magus gets a feat at class level 5 so VM's plan doesn't need to change a lot to fit that in.
As far as traits go you're going to want one on magical knack (magus) which really isn't negotiable. For the other you could get basically anything. Tactician might be handy, an initiative bonus is always good and you can pull out a +2 to attack someone you've tripped as they get up once/day.

It's probably not a good plan to go dex-based with a quarterstaff: the spear dancing feat line takes a lot of levels to get going, and the feats aren't very good otherwise (if you want reach, the Lunge feat is superior to spear dancing reach)
Either change weapons to something that can use finesse, or go str-primary and use your spells for defense. Note that the flowing monk's abilities (and bonus feat) all work in armor, as long as you use spell combat instead of flurry.
