Mooncursed Mechanics

Advice

Dark Archive

Hello all. I've been hunting for a 'smashy' character to play for a while, but after years of playing full spellcasters I wanted something with a little more pizazz to it.

Enter the Mooncursed Barbarian.

So it's got a rather neat ability to transform into one of several animals as if under the influence of Beast Shape 1, however on the list is the 'Tiger' (which is both the better mechanically and I can't deny liking tigers better anyway) which brings me to my question for the evening.

How do I reduce the Tiger to a medium-sized animal, instead of it's normal large-size self? I found a chart talking about size differences, but I don't know if that's even for me as opposed to for GMs. I think I've done the maths correctly (see below), but frankly I'd rather be certain than show up with a massively overpowered character because I built him wrong.

Normal Tiger Stats:
Init +6; Senses low-light vision, scent; Perception +8

Defense
AC 14, touch 11, flat-footed 12 (+2 Dex, +3 natural, –1 size)
hp 45 (6d8+18)
Fort +8, Ref +7, Will +3

Offense
Speed 40 ft.
Melee 2 claws +10 (1d8+6 plus grab), bite +9 (2d6+6 plus grab)
Space 10 ft., Reach 5 ft.
Special Attacks pounce, rake (2 claws +10, 1d8+6)

Statistics
Str 23, Dex 15, Con 17, Int 2, Wis 12, Cha 6
Base Atk +4; CMB +11 (+15 grapple); CMD 23 (27 vs. trip)
Feats Improved Initiative, Skill Focus (Perception), Weapon Focus (claw)

Skills
Acrobatics +10, Perception +8, Stealth +7 (+11 in areas of tall grass), Swim +11; Racial Modifiers +4 Acrobatics, +4 Stealth (+8 in tall grass)

Mooncursed Tiger Stats:

Beast Shape I +2 size bonus to Strength, +2 natural armour bonus

Any help would be appreciated.

You seem to not be familiar with the Pathfinder polymorph rules. You don't need to create a medium tiger's full stats, as you aren't turning into a exact copy of the tiger. You are using the usual polymorph rules (with Beast Shape I for mechanical effects) instead.

You get the following when using Shifting Rage to adopt the form of the tiger:
A +2 size bonus to your Strength, a +2 natural armor bonus, low-light vision, scent, a primary bite attack that deals 1d8 damage, and two primary claw attacks that deal 1d6 damage; also your base speed changes to 40ft.

At 11th level, you can either use a medium form, gianing the above plus pounce, and grab with claws and bite.
Alternatively, you can turn into a large sized tiger, in which case you gain a +4 size bonus to your Strength, a -2 penalty to your Dexterity, a +4 natural armor bonus, a bite that does 2d6 damage, two claws that do 1d8 damage, grab for all three, pounce, low-light vision, scent; your space increases to 10 ft (no reach though), and your base speed changes to 40ft.

Plus the usual polymorph stuff, so you can't talk, can't wield weapons/manipulate items like wands, your equipment melts into your body, can't profit from armor bonus (but still suffer ACP/dex limit), and lose any climb/fly/swim speed, special senses like darkvision, and other form dependent stuff you might have from your race. At 5th level, when using Hybrid Rage, your equipment stays usuable, including armor, you can wield weapons (in which case you can't use the claw(s) used to wield the weapons, and the bite and possibly remaining claw would be secondary attacks if used alongside a weapon attack), you can talk, and manipulate items.
