Animating a Snag Net?

Rules Questions

Scarab Sages

How well would the animate rope spell jive with a snag net? Could the spell be used to wield it effectively, even without proficiency or a good CMB? What if a character DID have Exotic Weapon Proficiency in the snag net (but still a poor CMB)?

Failing that, what other ways are there to telekinetically wield a snag net (particularly with a mind toward characters who otherwise aren't good with weapons or combat maneuvers)?

Animate rope is pretty limited. You don't have telekinetic control over the rope, you have to tell it exactly what to do.

The possible commands are “coil” (form a neat, coiled stack), “coil and knot,” “loop,” “loop and knot,” “tie and knot,” and the opposites of all of the above (“uncoil,” and so forth). You can give one command each round as a move action, as if directing an active spell.

I don't think there's a combination of those commands that would wield a snag net.

My understanding, based on past queries, is that it's actually much more flexible than it appears.

I don't actually see anything in that thread about the rope taking complex actions, but maybe I missed something. In any case going beyond the options listed in the spell would be completely GM-dependent.

If your GM says no, perhaps you can research a 2nd-level greater animate rope that could manage it.
