PFS 02-03 Rebel's Ransom (5-9)

blurb:
The Ruby Prince of Osirion sends you to the Parched Dunes to find what became of a secret Pathfinder expedition sent there to recover artifacts for the Ruby Prince himself. What you find there may very well end the Pathfinder Society as you know it.

Yarr, with tax season over and some of the faster pbp Game Day games wrapping up I'm ready to GM my next play by post. Please note that this adventure is generally consider to be deadlier than average for season 2.

What I expect from you:
You should be able to post 1+ times most days including weekends. You should have a PFS character level 5-9 with a character sheet that's easy for me to access. Additionally some basic stats should be available at a glance via clever use of profiles. I can help you get the formatting right. I understand that real life happens but I would very much appreciate the courtesy of a quick note if you're going to be unavailable. (I will let you know when I'm busy)

What you should expect from me.:
I work ~3 nights a week but post multiple times during most days, and will let you know when that's not expected to be the case.

I am an experienced GM however this is my first time GMing this particular adventure. No matter how much time I spend staring at rulebooks, I will still make mistakes. If you do notice anything you think is wrong or even questionable please feel free to bring it up in discussion. I love learning new things.
I will do my best to keep the game moving quickly and to be as fun as possible.

I will not softball the challenges, nor will I increase their difficulty. I will bot your actions as requested or when we've been waiting for close to 24 hours.

If you are interested please make yourself known here along with the character you're most interested in bringing. I'll be accepting 4-6 Pathfinders of my choice by Sunday the 21st with the game beginning on Monday the 22nd.

Thank you for taking the time to read down this far, and as always let me know if you have any questions.

Silver Crusade

Oooh I've been wanting to do this one! I have a few options that would be either high or low tier, so I'll wait to see what other people are bringing.

Sovereign Court

I will apply my level 7 witch to this adventure. I will update her status bar to represent the normal stuff. Haven't played her in a while, so it might take me a little while to get back into her crazy head.

Note about me. I live in Japan, so I am about 12 hours ahead/behind of Chicago time and my posts usually come 3-4 times a day on a normal day.

Silver Crusade

If you end up running low tier, I am interested with Saphera.

Dark Archive

Hello,
Thanks for GMing!!

I am interested but my character will only free up end of next week. :/(
If that works nonetheless I’d be happy to join you.

Silver Crusade

I would be interested.

Glastor is currently 6th, so would be my choice if going low tier. He is a cleric of Desna, with Bit of Luck, and 9 5d6 channels per day. He is a friendly gnome, with tiny dragonfly wings on his neck that are a fascination of his, and a bouncy mithral starknife!
i will post below with my high tier option.

The Exchange

If we go low tier, that annoying gnome will be left behind. Instead, you will have me, an immensely powerful evoker...

Silver Crusade

Immensely large, don’t you mean, oh corpulent caster?

The Exchange

Yes, being a bloat mage has its side effects.. but it brings with it great power.

Deadly adventures cause me no fear, as I have never met a foe that couldn’t be brought down with a fireball.. or a cold ball, or a lightning ball... you get the idea.

Looking to get started on Monday unfortunately. I encourage you to apply next time though.

Liberty's Edge

This is Hrothdane!

Since it looks like we are tending more low tier, and I just realized that I have a level 6 from Osirion who has my Mummy's Mask credit, I'm gonna commit to using Sayna.

Silver Crusade

Crunch here, continuing the spiral towards low tier with Arnold! He is a fighter/brawler specializing in mounted combat. He likes to learn, even if he isn't good at it.

Contributor

I am interested! This one would be fun to do with my 9th level Scarab Sage oread brawler, Tai. I also have a 7th level druid if the game is going low.

I'm interested in playing with Gorf, my 8th level Grippli gunslinger, especially if Kate's Tai is playing (they've adventured together several times before).

Hi, Evie!

Surely, we are finished by Monday.

Is there a spot left? :-)

I have a cleric of Nethys I'd love to play in this. Will be 7 or 8 by Monday when this starts.

I'm interested in this. I have characters for either subtier. It's a great scenario. I've GMed this, but can avoid any spoilers :)

I'll pick whichever group of Pathfinders I think will be the most enjoyable on ~Sunday.

And while I generally look at the players much more so than the characters, I would appreciate if people made at least some note of the character they are currently most interested in bringing even if that answer may change later for whatever reason.

If we're low tier I've a 6th level fighter who will keep the smart people safe.

If we're high tier I've a 9th level mad dog barbarian who... will also keep people save. But the 8th level rogue I have is probably more useful for this. Either way, I have options and will play with what the group needs most.

Info about Celie:

While being the second character i made for PFS back in 2007, Celie hasn't changed much over the years.

Celie is a tormented soul. She helped a mad scientist experiment on other living beings... Which somewhat broke her. She has a necklace of fingers that she started to collect after a paladin lost his finger in a trap... Some turtle snapped it off and the paladin didn't want it back. So she tends to go around and collect unique fingers from the fallen (or subdued) foes.

She stays back out of combat and attemps to weaken those attacking her party at the time. She tries to knock them out peacefully at first, then if that fails, she hits them with spells.

Her familure is a fox, which stays out of combat and talks to her sometimes and tries to be her Jimmidy Cricket. But that doesnt always work.

As for personality, She is a mixture between Joker, Harly, and the Mad Hatter.

Scarab Sages

Tai is the character I’m most interested in playing. She is currently 9th-level, and you oversaw her recent trip to Hell.

Sayna is a chivalrous knight who shamelessly flirts with all the ladies. She is the former slave of an Order of the Nail member and used to be one of Gray Maiden’s trainers so she has very strong opinions on people who torture and enslave. Her entire body is covered in scars from her time in the Gray Maidens, as she got “special treatment” for worshipping Shelyn, and she has 450 gp worth of fire ink tattoos covering the scars. Her inspire courage is her singing “I’ll Make a Woman Out of You” (to the tune of the Mulan song).

Sayna is my preference as she’s osiriani and has ties to the area (i also just want to play her more). My high tier options would be a 7 slayer/inquisitor archer/trap person that is like Batman combined with Green Arrow, 8 battle host occultist that’s a boisterous Lastwall knight, or 8 bloodrager/samurai that’s an older nagaji mercenary who has seen everything and just wants a challenge (the last two are tanky 2hander peoples). I also have a 7 pacifist shaman but his last like four levels are from Plunder and Peril credit and I havent figured out what to do with him yet

Silver Crusade

Saphera Moonglade would be my first choice for this adventure. She is a level 5 (sword and board) Inquisitor (Sanctified Slayer) who prefers diplomatic solutions to problems. That being said, she is not unfamiliar with exerting force when needed. She was orphaned at a very young age when her parents fell victim to the Worldwound. After spending a short time living in Gundrun, she was relocated to Absalom. There she found the Pathfinder society and fell in with a small group devoted to the Imperial god Ragathiel. Although she possesses the blood of angels, she appears to be human in every way, with the one exception of being extremely light skinned.

Arnold is a character I made trying to one-up a friend in terms of weirdness, but is played pretty straight. He's a (Eldritch Guardian) fighter 5/brawler 1 with a medium-sized familiar he rides into battle. It's a wallaby. He usually fights with a lance and shield, but carries a wide variety of weapons for any situation.

In a drastically different time and place, Arnold and his classmates were learning about black holes, and the theory that they led to other realities. Straying too close, however, their Supernatural Education Vehicle®* and everyone aboard fell victim to the attentions of some otherworldly entity. Sucked through and ending up on Golarion, Arnold found himself comprised of the black hole's shadowy material. His teacher's soul had been shoved into the body of an animal and his friends were nowhere to be found. He doesn't tell anyone about this for obvious reasons. In fact, he's all but put it behind him and has adapted well to this new world, fitting in as a mercenary. He still likes to learn and prefers solving problems without violence, but realizes he isn't as well suited to either anymore.

*Not to be confused with the Magic School Bus. Please don't sue.
