Magical Backlash

Rules Questions

I'm still relatively new to Pathfinder and I am putting together a character built with Greater Sundering in mind. Does Pathfinder have rules for the magical backlash of destroying a magic item? Not all systems do.

PRD materials only please.

Thanks.

Nope! The only backlash sunderers have to worry about is from the rest of the party for destroying the loot.

Yeah. I accept the probability that they won't be happy. But it plays into the backstory I have come up with for a Human Paladin using a warhammer as a holy symbol of Torag.

Honestly, it's the GMs job to make sure enough loot is dropped to keep the party at WBL. Don't worry about using sunder.

That's why you want to have Greater Make Whole available.

The only backlash I know about are a few specific magic items that have such in their description. Also, trying to sunder an artifact might trigger a self defence mechanism (i.e.backlash).

i think the only thing that goes boom when sundered is the staff of the magi (and it's variants) and they are broken specifically by the wielder for retribution strike.
