What is a Yamenhulk?

Pathfinder RPG General Discussion

In the pathfinder campaign setting, The First World Realm of the Fey by James L. Sutter we see this text:

“Amenorian Steppe: The First World has many prairies and grasslands, yet the Amenorian Steppe is legendary for its skilled riders and large-scale hunts. Generally organized by race, the various resident clans maintain independent fortresses across the plain, hunting the glowing yamenhulks for their armor scales and magical eyes that can be turned into powerful weapons and items. While a wide range of gnomes and fey ride an even greater assortment of mounts, perhaps the strangest of these groups is the Longsign Guild, a group of elves and lashunta (Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Inner Sea Bestiary 25) atop saurian mounts, who claim that their interest is less in the wealth of the yamenhulks than in the mysterious magic that animates them.”

My question is what is a yamenhulk? I can find no reference to this creature anywhere except for here, does anyone have a more in depth description or reference for this creature? This is the first time I have noticed completely ignored lore, I can always homebrew my own creation in its place, but I have little experience in creating custom monsters.

Tagged for movement out of Playtest, probably belongs in Pathfinder general discussion or even campaign setting.

That book dropped several names of races/monsters that are not developed or discussed anywhere else. They're GM hooks/inspirations for individual development. Paizo isn't going to do anything with them anytime soon if ever, especially since Sutter has left the company and PF2 has so much existing stuff to adapt.

Wait...James left? How did I miss that. What's he doing now?

Cursory search brought up this:

Quote:
In September of 2017, after leading Starfinder through the most successful game launch in Paizo's history, James stepped down as Creative Director, resigning from Paizo to focus on writing full-time.

Edit: I should have known Sutter wrote Distant Worlds. That one's still my absolute favorite splat book, and if I ever want to run Pathfinder In Space!, that's my jumping off point. That there wasn't a larger, hardback follow-up to Distant Worlds is a tragedy.

Freelance projects, including for Paizo. I think he might be writing some novels.

He wrote this, for a start.
