Veskarium

So When are we gonna get some more info on the Veskarium? I like how there are aliens from there but like I would love to have a book just like the Pact Worlds book but just about the Veskarium or even the Kasathas home world.

We asked. They ain't saying.

Yep, a lot of people asked for a Veskarium book. They're not saying a word.

Elton and I are actually underselling this: Almost everyone on this forum has asked for a Pact Worlds style Hardcover about the Veskarium and every time we do we get the same old "We're currently still looking into what is a suitable new product for this setting."

Although a Veskarium book would be cool.

Indeed!

2020: Veskarium + Starship books.

I would settle for either one of those, frankly.

A Veskarium book similar to the Pact Worlds book would be a lot of fun.

Yeah! In terms of future Pact Worlds style books, I think the next book should chronicle the worlds of the Veskarium. More details on the Vesk homeworld of Vesk Prime and their culture. They are a core race for crying out loud! Plus more info on Skittermanders and Pahtra, plus the hinted at Ant people from one of the Vesk worlds and whatever else there may be in that system! Considering the Pact Worlds and the Veskarium are in an alliance with each other I think its vital that we get more information on that system.

Of course that is just in regards to the next Pact Worlds style book. If it takes a while to get one of those that's fine as I am perfectly content, especially since the next main book we will probably get after Alien Archive 3 will be an Advanced Class Guide of some sort that includes the recent Playtest classes.

I don't think this is a fair assessment. I've personally seen the question get asked and answered by both Rob and Owen. Rob has, at least twice, publicly made statements about this, and Owen has at least once. Both their answers sound like a pretty clear indication that they're working on it, in some capacity. To paraphrase, what they have both said goes something like...

"There are 3 major regions of space in the setting. The Pact Worlds and it's member planets, Near Space which contains the Veskarium (a major and very popular and important part of the setting), and The Vast which contains the Azlanti Star Empire (another major and very popular part of the setting). Pact Worlds has it's own source book. Now I'm not saying we're doing the other two, but given that there appears to be demand for them (they're both very popular) and given that it makes sense structure-wise to have books for the other two..."

They both reiterate how popular this idea is and then either leave it hanging at that or add something like, "It would probably make sense for us to make these books, eventually. We want to give you what you will buy, and it seems like you want to buy these books."

I've seen the above stated by Rob at both Paizocon and Gencon, and by Owen on his most recent Starfinder Wednesday appearance. The three times they've said it were almost identically worded, so much so, that I feel like they planned the wording in advance. This leads me to believe that the books Near Space/Veskarium and The Vast/Azlanti Star Empire are both, at the very least, on the Schedule if not already in progress.

In my hopes and dreams, they give us both in 2020, since we aren't getting a real lore book this year (well, depending on how much lore is in the Beginner Box) and we're getting a really dense rule book in COM at the end of the year. But, if I were a betting man, (and I am), I'd bet that we get Near Space in 2020 and The Vast in 2021. The first one just won't get announced until after GenCon, possibly after COM drops. They tend to let each release (and announcement) stew in its own juices for a while.

that would also allow for the much needed STARSHIPS book for 2020.

I WANT MY MECHS.

(also alternative rules for starship combat...)

The Mecha rules from d20 Mecha are easily adaptable.

I'd rather have the Veskarium as a whole book instead of sharing space with other planets. Too much build up, too much interesting stuff hinted at - and it's an entire system.

The other Near Space worlds mentioned in the CRB (plus whatever new stuff they come up with) can have their own book on 2021.

Also: Veskarium AP in 2020.

Assuming 10 pages per planet and a 160 page book (same as with Pact Worlds), A Near Space + Veskarium book would have enough space for all the planets of the Veskarium and enough space left over for 6 other Near Space Planets. I doubt they'll split it into two books.

Sorry, I'll need at least 2 pages devoted to just those mysterious cat people.

I hope they have a racial trait to be able to fit an entire Ysoki in their mouth.

Cat people got statted out in Alien Archive 2. They're called Pathra.

I'm also in the "the Veskarium deserves a whole book". Note that this doesn't mean it can't cover planets outside that system. Just, those planets should be the external territories *of* the Veskarium: planets and systems that are colonized, annexed, or hegemonized by them.

Yeah that did't actually occur to me but it would stand to reason that the Veskarium would include other worlds outside of their home system. I mean they are conquerors and that was the reason they came to the Pact Worlds in the first place. Just because they failed to conquer the Pact Worlds doesn't mean they failed to conquer other extant planets/systems outside their home system. They had that one planet for a short time afterall, right? The one that the Azlanti Empire took back since it was in space they claimed. The 8 worlds of the home system plus another 4-6 worlds ruled by the Vesk would be neat.

But I would also be happy if it included some of the other systems mentioned in other source books like the Shadar Confederacy or some of the lone world systems like Elytrio or Daimalko.

I think an AP set in the Veskarium would also fill in a lot of blanks and help tide us over until a hardcover can come along.
