Barbarians and thrown wrapons

Skills, Feats, Equipment & Spells

I am unsure how Barbarians and thrown weapons work together.

- some melee weapons have the "Thrown" property which allows to make a ranhed attack and add full strength to damage.
- Barbarians rage adds a damage bonus when attacking with melee weapons.

Rage doesn't require melee attacks, just attacks with melee weapons, right? So I would get the damage bonus when throwing a melee weapon?

Unclear, but in Pathfinder 1st edition they we're melee weapons when used to make melee attacks, and ranged thrown weapons when used to make ranged attacks.

Basically thrown weapons are melee when used melee and ranged when used as ranged. So I believe that probably, a barbarians rage will not provide a damage bonus while throwing.

What has me thinking is that the PF2 text about thrown weapons (the trait) talks specificly about thrown melee weapons (like spear) and thrown ranged weapons (javelin).

The text makes a clear distinction between weapon type and attack type.

And Power Attack only works when making a "melee attack". While Rage has only references to "melee weapons".

I would have to go back and reread that because I don't recall a distinction between them (though that doesn't mean it's not there, I have a really bad memory).

If it separates between melee thrown weapons and ranged thrown weapons then the melee thrown weapons would benefit...but that would be really weird since they function basically the same except the ranged thrown weapons tend to have longer ranges and can't be used in melee.

Honestly, I would expect when the rules are rewritten that all thrown weapons would benefit from strength and that they should all benefit from rage, but currently it definitely would not work that way.
