According to Paizo faq, you have Belt and eye slots for a scorpion.

Go to Paizo faq..

but i need the feat for them, or i get those without the feats? Thats what i am confused about.

You don't need any feat two use the two slots I mentioned.

But you can get extra slots with the ''extra item slot'' feat.
However I think you cannot take that feat for your animal companion unless it has at least 3 intelligence. ( Not 100% sure if you need the intel or not )

it does have 3 int, i started off as a halfling with the caretaker trait to give it 2 intelligence, then at level up it got another int. And is this how the society rules it as well?

Silver Crusade

Extra Item Slot works differently in PFS.

Normal rules say critters get so many item slots based on body shape, and Extra Item Slot works as written.
PFS rules say critters can’t use magic items except if they take Extra Item Slot and then they are limited in the slots they can choose. Vermin companions get the worst of this.

Details are all in an FAQ. I can’t link it for you just now, will have a look for you when I have time.

Silver Crusade

This is the FAQ you need.

For PFS, your vermin companion only has Belt and Eyes slots and it can only access these slots by taking Extra Item Slot feats. Most companion creatures get Armour and Neck slots accessible for 'free', vermin as a rule do not.

The PFS version of Extra Item Slot appears in the Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide (a free download). It says:

PFS Extra Item Slot wrote:

EXTRA ITEM SLOT

You are able to wear magic items more easily than most
creatures of your kind.
Prerequisite: Animal companion, familiar, or other
companion creature that does not have all of its possible
magic item slots unlocked by default in Pathfinder
Society Roleplaying Guild.
Benefit: Choose one magic item slot that you qualify
for. You can now wear magic items in that slot.

I don't know why they decided to hose vermin companions like this, but that's how it is. (I also run a verminous hunter in PFS).

Allright then, thanks for the explanation and verbatim, i appreciate it, any suggestion on an eye piece thats worth a feat? the belt might be for strength belt to help with grapples

Silver Crusade

I wouldn't invest any feats in those slots. I suppose you could do some interesting things with the Hunter's ability to see through the companion's eyes if you gave it something like Deathwatch goggles.

You'll have Ant focus plus either Leech, Mantis or Scorpion to support your grapple so a belt of strength isn't needed (doesn't stack with Ant focus).

With Int 3 you can consider the grapple feat line though, you'll have to start with improved unarmed but it might be worth it.

currently it has fleet from an ioun stone on myself, dirty fighting, escape route and pack flanking from my hunter levels, toughness and weapon focus grapple at level 7 Currently it it has a +17 to grapple, then a +4 if i am riding it or at least adjacent to the same enemy, as well as a further +4 to grapple when i aid it, since i am helpful halfling bringing it to a +25 which has been almost successful on every attempt, but a few times it has missed, and since my build does little damage, i need to ensure i successfully make those grapple checks (to apply the bleed from leech) and control combat a bit.

Silver Crusade

My giant mantis works similarly, though I don't ride it and I gave up teamwork feats for the divine hunter archetype. It's an effective grabber just with vermin focus options.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

But my scoprion has long flowing blonde locks of hair! Thanks to a goblin :)

It can use pretty much any any slotless item.
Ious Stones are slotless.

Honestly your pet is feat starved. But with hunters focus, you wont need a belt as much and eyes are frankly a hell of a cost for just a pet.

Of you had to choose one? Belt I guess. But honestly if that's how PFS does it, best to save a feat and grab something else.
