Aid From the Deities

Advice

Ok, will be starting a new section of our campaign fairly soon.

Several of the characters will have a boon from one of 5 deities (whether or not they want it is a different matter). The deities are (a) Asmodeus (LE), Lamashtu (CE), Desna (CG), Iomedae (LG), and Gozreh (N).

First one I came up with is:
Tattoo that is a one time summon of a bearded devil. And as a downside (which I won't tell the PC unless he does some checking/research) when it bursts forth from the tattoo it does 1d4 con damage as it rips his skin apart. This seems like a very Asmodeus kind of thing to me.

I want different kinds of boons but not long lasting, campaign changing benefits. So no permanent magic items. I don't want them all to be just summoning a different kind of creature. Also, I think 'blessings' of the gods should have a beware element to them. So even the boons from the good aligned deities should have a drawback. But probably not as outright vicious as the Evil aligned deities. I think a bearded devil is probably the upper limit of the amount of power I want to provide.

So I'm looking for advice/ideas on other boons which can be provided. Anything clever that you can come up with?

Silver Crusade

I think instead for Asmodeus, gain a once per day Divine Favor when upholding a bargain, make the summoning Lamashtu's book, but summon 2 hell hounds that resemble jackals.

Desna might grant butterfly wings that work as the fly spell for 1d10 rounds a day, symbolizing both luck and travel. Iomedae could grant a spiritual weapon, or a "righteous wrath" identical to a range spell.

Maybe make the divine favor of Asmodeus affect both the blessed and his enemy? If the enemy uses a bane, or some other ability that specifically targets the player, he's making an agreement to kill them, so bargains must be upheld.

Grand Lodge

For Lamashtu, why not a refillable Waters of Lamashtu Extract? Use it as a splash weapon- literally throw the water onto the enemies, not throw the vial at the enemy- to get the effects of the Waters. Or, if the holder openly venerates Lamashtu, they can drink it as an Extract with effects of Rage?

The bursting forth thing is more a Lamashtu thing. I'd suggest it acts like a Summon Monster of half the characters level +1 so its slightly more powerful than what a PC could produce. But the downside is the d4 con damage, the creature has obvious Lamashtu mutations...oh and it isn't a summons. It really is that sort of creature. It obeys the 'mother' for level rounds then it attempts to leave.

A more Asmodeus kind of blessing would be to summon an Imp that bargains to be paid to perform one task...then hangs around until the party kills something and drags the monster's soul to hell on its return. Treat the Imp like its under the effect of Planar Binding.

Desna's blessing could transform the player into a swallowtail butterfly (tiny, harmless, 30' flight) for an hour. That is the bonus and the curse is you have to keep the full duration.

Iomedae's blessing could be to cast Divine Power on the player at CL 20 (+6 to hit and damage, +20 temp hp, 20 round duration) and for the duration all opponents prefer to attack the player. This is a one time use.

Gozreh's blessing could just summon a Xocothian and immediately perform a lesser planar binding ritual. So the player has to offer payment in return for service. This Xocothian speaks one language in common with the summoner.

Most of these are one time use powers. The exception is summoning the Imp. That is suppose to slowly lead the player into corruption and if the player dies while the Imp is summoned, it seizes his soul and returns to hell immediately.

Hmm... I do like some of these ideas.

I think I will keep all of them and kinda tailor them to who gets a boon from which deity.
