Poisoned Locket: Reusable or not?

Rules Questions

Hi all,
I was wondering:

The poisoned locket from Potions and Poisons:

"This heart-shaped locket is attached to a thin metal chain made of looped strands of gold or silver. Inside the locket is a small, spring-loaded vial that can hold a single dose of powdered poison. Loading the locket with poison carries the same risks as applying poison to a weapon. When the locket is opened, the vial is shattered by a ball bearing, releasing the powder into the air and treating the poison’s type as if it were inhaled. The airborne poison affects all creatures within 10 feet of the locket."

Since "loading the locket with poison carries the same risks as applying poison to a weapon" I'd assume the poison is used up, but the locket would be reusable, else I don't understand why wouldn't be "pre-loaded"...what do you think?

I also was wondering because this tool is kind of expensive...

Also I was wondering:

Do you think a familiar with Intelligence 6 and claws would be able to open it?

I was asking because a flying familiar with a Gamboge cracked ioun stone attuned to that specific poison might be an interesting "carrier" for
such item...but if the locket wasn't reusable this and the cost of the poison would make this tactic prohibitive...

Skarm

so.. just wandering ..if the familiar has claws (or even a mouth). what prevent you from using normal inhaled poison in,say, a pouch that he can just shack above the target?
only benefit would be using powdered poison that is not inhaled to turn it into one.

If my Catfolk with claws racial bonus can use/manipulate items as easily as any other humanoid, then I don't see why the claws would get in the way here. However, Catfolks still have "hands." I'm not gonna say a Raven can effectively hold a wand in its claws, but that's up to the GM.

D20 website for abilities modifiers, does show 6 intelligence as, "Dull-witted or slow, often misuses and mispronounces words," so I would say your familiar has enough intelligence to speak magic words when speaking becomes unlocked for your familiar. As a Wizard, this would normally be at Class Level 5.

Assuming you have points in "Use Magic Device," your familiar should be able to use your skill ranks to cast spells from one of its free "hands."

The d20 qualities attributed to intelligence do not seem to be official. A 6 in intelligence is just a -2 penalty on checks. It’s no more an idiot than a 15 is a genius.

It's unclear whether or not the poisoned locket is destroyed by RAW when it's used. However, as a nonmagical and non-consumable item, it seems fairly clear that it can be repaired by (a wand of) Make Whole regardless, which is much more affordable than buying dozens of lockets.
