The general answer to what I want to play is "Whatever the party needs." But I had a few characters in mind.
Quinn using 3 adventure decks. I've never done an alchemist character. Could be fun.
WotR Enora. I played her in Dragon's Demand and wouldn't mind another go in a full AP.
Ukuja. No such thing as too much Ukuja.
Honorable mention: OA2 Mavaro. OP and probably unfun for the table, But it can be fun watching Godzilla crush a city.
Thoughts on a discord channel for the game?
TColMaster |
I don't have my own Discord server.
If you want a fun build, and I did it for Season 3 IRL just before COVID hit, Damiel Alchemist. I ended up going Alchemy, Ranged, and Support packs. I almost went Divine instead of support for the second heal, but Good Omen, Aid, and Enhance are just so good for supporting the group until you can get Restorative Touch and Breath of Life. And, yes, I am talking the CD version, not one from a box.
Bigguyinblack |
I don't own the Alchemist deck and don't really want to deal with whatever changeover I would need to do if they stop hand waving ownership. After looking at it neither Quinn or Fumbus impress me.
So I'll narrow it down to Enora, Ukuja, or some other divine caster.
There is a server PACG PbP that I think is free to use.

Ok, well, lets wait for the others to pop in. Also, upon thinking for a moment, we are going to use Google Hangouts for communication as Discord is all but blocked at work. And, as the BR, I want to make sure you can get ahold of me anytime you need to. So, please PM me an email address to I can get you in my Hangouts Chat.

Damiel is up and Ready.
For those of you who don't know, when you have created your character, I strongly recommend going to the link above and registering your character. It makes Box Running a lot easier.

Can't wait to see what you come up with. Yoon is a character I have been interested in playing for some time and would love to see how she turns out for the group.

And, just for everyone's FYI, and I am going to post this in the Discussion Group as well, from December 23rd to January 4th I will be on vacation with family and not be online at all. We have put off this vacation now twice (Spring Break and then early summer) and everyone is getting antsy and we need the time away from home.

I can easily see where both are going, and I think either would be a great compliment to the group. My only question is having a Cure in your deck. Having it as a panic button for you until you get something better (or -3 happens and I can get a cure spell) or something else? Because with Enora, it's a banish card as she is proficient with Divine.

I was looking at Agna thinking that she might be fun to play. I don't think that you can go wrong with her.
For myself, I'm thinking Flenta. Haven't played her before but I like her backstory and she doesn't look like she'll play too much differently from Valeros.
I'll sign up on the PFACG site, but is that where you find those spreadsheets to track characters and decks?

Flenta is hilarious. She is actually slightly cooler is CORE than old stuff. Link Here She gains a few things, especially in later scenarios that can be very helpful to the group.

I've been reading how Flenta works. I had assumed she has Arcane proficiency but no. She has proficiency with Arcane Items.
So here is how things work.
If Flenta uses an item with the Arcane trait she has proficiency so it will go to recovery when used. At the end of your turn you can attempt to recharge it but would roll 1d4 since you don't have the Arcane skill.
If Flenta casts an arcane spell it will be banished but then a random arcane spell of level #-2 (Minimum 0) will be recharged.
(So play the spell, Banish it, New level 0 spell goes to the bottom of your deck.)
If she takes the feat "☐ For your combat check that has the Attack trait, you may use the skill Arcane: Intelligence +2."
Counter-intuitively this does not grant you arcane proficiency. You would cast the attack spell with your 1d8 +2 Arcane skill, banish it, Then get the new level 0 spell recharged.
Her roles can help a little bit.
Arcane Pretender
☐You automatically succeed at your check to recharge (☐ or acquire) an item that has the Magic trait.
(This allows you to recover Arcane items. But most of them work like attack spells but are not spells so you wouldn't have an Arcane skill to use them. Useful for a handful of utility items.
Martial Adept
☐ Add 2 (☐ 4) to your check to recharge (☐ or acquire) a boon that has the Magic trait.
(So add 2 or 4 to your untrained Arcane check on recovering items.)
I'm pretty sure the person who designed Flenta envisioned her as a fighter using a bunch of Arcane scrolls.
And that can be done. Flenta can use her upgrades on any spare spells we get. But they will be banished when cast and replaced with low level options.
My advice
Focus on your weapons. They will serve you much better in combat.
Don't focus on spells. Use some easily replaceable low level utility spells.
Both of your roles have highlights.
Arcane Pretender:
I would ignore the feat related to arcane items and focus on the extra hand size and the feat "☐ You may recharge a spell (☐ or an item that has the Magic trait) to add 1 plus its adventure deck number, if any, to your combat (☐ or non-combat) check."
This lets you put high level spells in your deck to either recharge for a bonus or pass to Mavaro.
Martial Adept:
Smaller hand size but the feat "☐ Add 1d4 (☐+1) (☐+2) to a combat check by a character at your location. " can help your allies.

Under the theory that it can't hurt to know what boons we want to work for, Here are the tier 1 boons Agna is looking for.
Weapon 1 Giantbane Greataxe
Blessing 1 Gorum's Iron
Item 1 Staff of Minor Healing
Armor 1 Spiked Half-Plate (Low priority)
I'm currently using Hunter + Smash.
Smash has me covered for weapons.
If I choose to add spells to pass to Mavaro Hunter has Cure, Charm Animal, Major Cure, and Seek Quarry.
Smash has some great heavy armors. I'm not proficient but they display. At 3 I get Magic Spiked Full Plate (Draw to prevent 2 combat damage or 1 of any damage) and at 6 I get Hellknight Plate (3 and 2).
Hunter has Belt of Physical Might I can take at 4 due to the converting to core cards rules. Admittedly I don't have a great choice for my 3rd item.
Hunter has animal allies. The ones in Nature are pretty bad.
3 of my 4 blessings recharge to bless and I plan to buy ally feats over blessing feats so I'm not sweating blessings. Even if I add blessings Hunter has Blessing of Abadar.
I'm considering maybe Occult for my 3rd pack.
Leech isn't an animal but I would be recharging it to heal anyway.
Headband of Mental Superiority and/or Third Eye.
Some great blessings if I do decide to add more.

Hero Point: Card Feat (ally)

We unlocked 3 traders. The rules on them are long but actually pretty simple. Pick one trader to visit before the start of each scenario.
Falsin Deek: Offers items for 2 boons. TColMaster pulls 1 random item +1 for each person who visits this trader. If any of the visitors want 1 of the items. They set aside 1 boon from their deck, buries another boon, Then adds that item to their deck. It is a loot card not acquired.
Ghoul Market: Same deal but offers armors for 2 boons.
Sunburst Market: Works very different especially under Core rules. Offers any tier 0 card in the Mummy's Mask box in exchange for 1 boon.
Some highlights for this party.
Remove Curse (Removes curses and even laws.)
Scarab Buckler (Recharges to prevent damage or burys to heal you. Offhand.)
Osirion History Guide (A book that recharges to add a die to knowledge checks.)
Blessing of the Ancients (Most of the time it recharges.)
Blessing of Wadjet (Reveal to add 1d4 to your check to acquire. Discard to add 2d8 to any check to acquire.)
But the real busted options are in allies.
Fire Gecko (Reveal to add 1d4 and the fire trait to your combat checks.)
Hyaenodon (When you defeat a monster, you may reveal this card to recharge a random card from your discard pile.)
Dredge (When you would encounter a boon, recharge this card to exchange that boon with a random boon of the same type from the box and encounter that boon instead.)
Mahga Threefingers (On your check, after the roll, recharge this card to add 3 or subtract 2 from the result.)
Marianix Karn (Reveal this card to add 1 to your check to acquire a boon. Recharge this card to add 1d6 to your check to defeat a barrier.)
Stained Glass Elemental (Recharge this card to add 1 plus the scenario's adventure deck number to the result of your check.)
And lastly Honaire Who is completely OP. Especially if you are a caster and have ways to draw cards during your turn.
Personally I'm torn over which one to pick.
Hyaenodon would be a steady source of healing but most of my cards recharge.
Dredge isn't an animal but could potentially increase our quality of acquired boons.
Fire Gecko adds 1d4 to all of my combat checks.
Anyway. Spending my hero point on power feat +1 to hand size.
No interest in the ally 1.

Hero Point: Card Feat (Spell)
Add Aspect of the Mouse, which will get perma-swapped for Remove Curse from the Sunburst Market.
Not taking the Ally 1 - Dwarf Caiman and Dragon Emissary are better for me than anything in either deck.
Swapping Amulet out and Cloud Puff in.
Also, I don't think Honaire should not be an available vault card.
Loot cards in pre-core sets are not stored with others of their type, and I don't see why that would change.
Agna the Agonizer |
Initially I was debating about my 3rd pack in terms of what if any high level boons I might want in my deck. But I'm noticing in all of my games played with older sets that good upgrades are hard to find. So I should focus on a deck with good low level boons.
Occult has Leech, Charm Person if/when I add a spell to my deck, and a couple of nice blessings.
So if TColMaster doesn't mind and no one else wants the ally 1 upgrade, I can add Occult and upgrade Dog to Leech.

You may discard ([X] or recharge) a card to search your deck for a card and set it aside; shuffle your deck, then put that card on top.
Armor 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 355
Armor of the Sands -> Crystal Mail
Agna the Agonizer |
Spending my hero point on skill feat +1 to strength. 0 HP left.
Choosing weapon 1 for my upgrade no roll needed.
Flenta should use the spear for now since it gives her a second magic one.

Upgrading to Weapon 1 as well - Quarterstaff of Vaulting (Core)
Spending Hero Point on Hand Size
Flenta the Venturous |
Hero Point was spent on increasing number of Blessings.
Upgraded Mace to GiantBane Greataxe.
Agna the Agonizer |
Using my hero point to add an ally. Filling the empty spot with another dog. taking an Ally 1 replacing Vulture with Droogami.
Yoon - Iceman |
Bad scenario to pull such terrible boons:
For the rest of the Adventure Path, 1 character may temporarily replace 1 item in his deck with the loot Game of Afterlife. At the end of each scenario, return the card to the game box.
Each character draws an ally from the game box. Adventure Card Guild characters may choose a bonus deck upgrade.

Hero Point: INT +1
Upgrade: None.
Loot: Game of Afterlife only if another player doesn't want it.
