Using Pathfinder as an Inspiration for Writing? (if this is in the wrong place tell me)

Books

Just as the subject says, I was wondering if I'm unusual for using PF as an inspiration for writing, and not in the obvious way either.

The process of making a specific story started with a Spheres of Power Casting Tradition of all things, the Scion of the Crown, and went from there to the point that I have a short chapter 1 and multiple character ideas bouncing around in my head. Is that unusual?

This is a great idea for a series of books. I take inspiration only from life, also I read a lot, watch various films, listen to music, or simply watch art on Pinterest. It stirs imagination very much. Did you know that music awakens forgotten memories? Once I wrote a book and I had big deja-vou's on every chapter. Several times in a chapter. That's what's really weird haha

In my writing circle (and a lot of professional writers of my Generation) being a Gamer and taking ideas/characters/etc. from there is the norm, rather than the exception.
Ben Aaronovitch (Rivers of London) just posted something as to the origins of his magical System (Ars Magica) and that he still has shelves of RPG material that he loves to dig in for ideas, as RPG sourcebooks are specifically made to inspire you to tell your own stories with them.
So no, you are not alone, and you are in rather good Company :)
