Cant go wrong with a grappler monk/druid hybrid turning into an octopus grabbing pinning constricting, releasing and going again. There are multiple builds around like that.

Or a plain barbarian with a anti magic circle on them disabling all magic items on them/in the area. Super devistating for those high tiered spellcasters.

If the arena is unbounded in at least one dimension then getting out of Dodge and using long range spells only (including w/reach spell) beats most enemies. E.g form of the dragon 3, fly away, then cast quickened deeper darkness first round. Remember to have some SR: No spells for smartarse antimagic barbarians and greater dispel magic for the overly buffed.

If it's an enclosed box of a decent size (200' across or so) and leaving means losing then constant mobility is still good but not an I Win button. An archer on a fast mount can fire even at a gallop. Some countermeasures to avoid being hit on the move (e.g. a dip to get opportune parry and riposte) are probably in order.

If it's a little enclosed box that grappler soulds hard to beat. A druid who earth glides into the ground, summons an army of earth elementals then sends them out as a group might work if that's legal.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Is it 1v1 or free-for-all?

If it's 1v1 then Initiative is king.

If it's a free-for-all then being the 2nd most dangerous guy will probably help you win =P

If it's 1v1 a psychic duelist psychic pretty much makes every other build non functional. Albeit it is a will save and I'm not 100% sure how common mind affecting immunity is at that level.

but hey if they fail you've pretty much guaranteed a kill in a 1v1, and if they don't you're still a 9 level caster.

I will point out that by RAW psychic duels are NOT optional rules like things like ABP or armor as DR, they are considered as much a part of the rules as things like magic item crafting.

Druid is probably the most ferocious PvP class imo. Pick a domain that's good at nuke spells and get Dreamed Secrets, Rime Spell, Hellcat Stealth, Reach Spell, and Natural Spell. Use Dreamed Secrets to pick up 2 Wizard Spells, I recommend Disintegrate and Contingency.

During combat, Wild Shape into a diminutive-sized bird, fly to max range, and use your standard action to cast a spell, then use your move action to re-enter stealth every round (if you Pump Stealth and have a Wand of Greater Invis, they're going to need a redonk Perception to even be able to attack you, ever). When you need to, you can Wild Shape into something with lots of melee attacks (like an Octopus or Deinonychus) and cast Rimed Frostbite for Fatigue/Entangle. At any point in time in the fight, you can use a move action to Stealth even while being actively viewed, trash a spell for Summon Nature's Ally and/or go cure yourself, then come back with full health.

Get a Ring of Chameleon Power for +10 competence bonus, Child of the Moon Trait for +1, +2, or +4 Stealth depending on the Moon, Potion of Heroism, and go as a Drow. Drow Druids get FCB +1/2 bonus to Stealth while Wild Shaped, so go with a 15RP Drow. I'd go true Neutral for alignment so you can avoid Aura Sight and alignment-based detection spells. Let's assume you have an 18 dex.

At level 16, you could have 16SkillRank + 3ClassSkill + 6SkillFocus + 1-4 CotMTrait + 8DrowFCB + 12Diminutive + 2Cat'sGrace + 2Heroism + 10Chameleon Power + 4dex + 20-40Greater Invisibility =

1d20+84-87 Stealth (avg. 94.5-97.5 Stealth) while moving

1d20+104-107 (avg. 114.5-117.5 Stealth) while not moving

1d20+64-67 (avg. 74.5-77.5 Stealth) if enemy has See Invis and is within range to see you

-10 Stealth from these figures if you're being actively viewed

They can't target you if they can't pass the Perception check. Even if they have See Invisibility, your Stealth is redork enough to pass just about any Perception check, and hopefully you're at max range anyway so See Invis wouldn't even matter.

Good effing luck killing that.

Worst case scenario: If you were being actively viewed by someone with See Invisibility and you rolled a 1, your minimum Stealth DC would be 55 DC. Which means, if your opponent rolled a 20 vs. your 1 roll, he would still need at least +35 Perception bare minimum.

Basically, you’re about the size of a hummingbird. Get 1000ft. away and nuke/summon with Reach Spells

On second thought, Contingency is 10 min cast time and pre-buffing isn't allowed. Get Spell Turning or Limited Wish instead :D
