Oh, Monkey Santa!
Such scintillating banter!
Such multitudes of manic monkeyshines!
You're gonna wind up Quibble,
'Till he can do naught but dribble,
But you, of course, will always end up fine!

Remember to keep handy,
Red Bull, and 'nana brandy,
Make sure that you look after Number One!
The bosses and the cops,
Will never, never stop,
This Maelstrom of Monkey Santa Fun!

So, quarantine gave me time to check the forums again. Anything remarkable I missed in the last 8 months or so?

A dangerous entity known as Monkey Santa seeks to take control of the world. And parts of Cincinnati.

Monkey Santa as a Patron (supernatural being from whom one can recieve spells and aid, if it suits its whims) in Dungeon Crawl Classics ? Hmm...

Heh, the "wrestling monkey" post reminded me of a story about my son when he was much younger.

One of the grocery stores around here had a pretty extravagant produce display which had a fake palm tree surrounded by bananas, oranges, apples, etc. Sitting in the middle of this was a really large orangutan plushy. My son, who'd just turned two, really loved looking at it every time we came to the store. Finally one day we asked a manager if it was for sale, and he said yes. He handed it to my son, who was sitting on the child shelf thing of the shopping cart. He immediately grabbed it and hugged it and named it "Tootimber". It had been sitting next to a pile of cucumbers and he hadn't mastered the actual word yet, but he associated it with them. We finish shopping and get in the checkout line and he's just chattering away with his new "friend".

My son is a good looking guy, and I'm not just saying that as his dad. Objectively speaking he's pretty darned handsome. And as a little kid, his cute factor was nearly off the scale. Other moms and waitresses and grannies and such always made a fuss over him. The girl in the checkout line was no different. She recognized us because we shopped there a lot and she began talking to Connor.

She asked him where did he get the monkey? What was its name, and so forth. Connor was a very verbal kid at an early age and pretty well spoken for a two year old. He excitedly told her about where Tootimber came from in the store and a few other things. All the while he was hugging the plushy really tight. The girl sort of smiled and said, "You really like him, huh?" Connor answered yes and told her he loved Tootimber. Then he looked the young lady square in the eyes and his voice dropped like an octave or something and he asks, "Girl want monkey love?" I fell out. His mother was both amused and mortified, and the girl squealed and gave him a candy bar from the impulse buying stuff by the register. To this day he'll say that he's going to use that as an actual pickup line someday.

I can easily picture her and the atropacustra devil (in the Wayfinder Bestiary) gossiping in the Infernal break room and exchanging tips for the latest tail beautification treatments.

Her boss is probably curious why she has her dealer meeting her at work.

She got keyed in on the meeting from a Dababum Devil.

In other questions, can I ask how you came about the name and build?

I assume the first half is a play on Bureaucrat.

Close.

Spoiler:
Biurwa (byoorva) is Polish portmanteau of biuro =office, bureau, and the Polish word for whore and refers to various kinds of bureaucratic jerks, idiots, who are incompetent and/or abusing their bureaucratic position, be they governmental (like magistrates, city clerks) or private (usually secretaries, but also many middle-management positions).

The name and general idea were spawned yesterday morning when a friend mentioned that she is "biurwa kadrowa" (i.e. staff biurwa) at her new HR job. The rest evolved quickly from there.

Strange Aeons:
A PC's cohort got eaten by proto-shoggoths about a month ago. The player felt really bad, because they basically left him to cover their retreat--and it wasn't THAT necessary). They reincarnated him as a samsaran.

Flash-forward to today. We're putting together a teleconference game. A player who had to quit at the beginning of the year is able to rejoin us, because he doesn't have to commute now.

ME (on group email thread): So you're 11th level now. Oh, and Na'Alu is blue with milky white irisless eyes.

PLAYER: Do I even want to know?

ME: Hodor. Hodor hodor hodor. HODOR! HODOR! HODOR!

I was following until the end, then you lost me to confusion.

Orthos wrote:

It's a Game of Thrones reference. If you haven't read/seen the relevant scene, I won't spoil it. But if you're curious...

Game of Thrones:
Like poor Na'Alu, Hodor died covering major characters' escape. In a heart-breaking scene. Because the only thing he could say was "Hodor". And in his death scene, you discover why and it's really sad.
