Yeah. Took the remaining oyster crackers, as well.

So in the low-level side campaign that I'm running we have a professionally printed and bound booklet of our house rules. One of my players works for Troll Lord Games in the print shop and put them together, as well as a house rule handbook for our other campaign.

No matter how many rereads and edits one does there is bound to be something left out, and I just discovered that the Unchained Poison rules were absent. So, I sent out an email to tell people to make a note in the back of the book we'll be using them and asking they at least read up on the rules enough to know what's going on if their PCs become poisoned. I get back one positive "you betcha!" type response, some "Ok's", and one "I don't read the rules. I just rely on you" answer. This. This is why I want to strangle players. Or maybe poison them, thus forcing them to experience the effects that I'm trying to emulate with the rules. Yeah, that's the ticket.

We tried the unchained poison and disease rules and just ultimately didn't like them.

That might end up being the case with us, too. But I'm livin' on the edge, here.

I ended up making beef stroganoff last night.
(YAY for cheap meat on sale! Sometimes you actually get the good stuff!)

Came out good.

OF course I have to eat it on 'cauliflower rice' or something similar, due to trying to stay on this 'NO CARB' diet thing. But once you cover it with enough tasty beef and gravy/sauce,... WHO CARES!?! :)

Now wait a second. You doctors have been telling us to drink eight glasses of gravy a day!

There's cauliflower and there's rice. There ain't no such thing as "cauliflower rice". You fell for the kale-cauliflower hype!

Far be it from me to quibble... but I think you can rice cauliflower using a food ricer.

And kale gets a bad rap. I used to work at this place where the cafeteria had a kale avocado salad that I’d shank my grandmother to get at. Admittedly, I’m a terrible person and that’s a low bar, but the salad was good is what I’m saying.

I've tried kale in many forms and the only one I've found palatable is when it's coated with olive oil and seasonings then baked into "kale chips". Beyond that, I wouldn't give it to a starving tortoise.

And you can "rice" it all you want. It's still cauliflower. I'm not falling for it.

LOL,
there is ,indeed, no such thing as 'Cauliflower -rice',

There IS however, little bits of cauliflower chopped up into rice-sized bits and packaged as 'Cauliflower Rice'.

WHich is what you eat when you want something to put your gravy on, but are currently on a 'NO-or-reduced-carb' diet.

Don't laugh. I literally get to eat all of the meat that I want. Including the fat. And despite the nay-sayers, my Dr says my numbers are all good. I can keep doing whatever Im doing, because it is working for me. ;P

I eat too many carbs, for sure. And I greatly increased my salad intake a year and a half ago. So much so I cannot eat them as stand-alone meals anymore, and barely as a side. I lost 40 pounds, but I just can't face another pile of leaves.

Hello, everyone!

John! How are you today?

Doing okay. Glad it's Friday. :)

I'm wishing it was next Saturday as I'll be doing TRIPLE dog sitting duties this week. My neighbor up the street (who's dog I LOVE) is out of town. Not a big deal, BUT for those of you that know something about SCA, this is the start of Pennsic...and that means my best friend and HIS family are going. (Admittedly I don't know why he's going. His back in a TERRIBLE shape and has plenty of anxiety issues...but that's what he's doing!) So naturally I volunteered...and it starts tomorrow. I just wish I wasn't so nice...and could say no...

Also I said yes to another neighbor who is going on a day trip...and thus recruited my mom to help take care of her elderly male poodle. (Not a toy but clearly smaller than some poodle breeds.) So...yeah...

I hope I find good karma or something out of this.

Also no gaming....

The karma will show up when you get a whole weekend off to game your socks off.

I hope so Cal. Right now I only have one on 4th of August since I'll be stuck in the backwoods from the 6th to the 14th...

How low a salad bar was it? Could you just stoop, or did you have to crawl up to it?

Day one of caring for my friend's dog; done.

No drama, no mess. So now I just have to prepare myself for EARLY mornings from Sunday until August 3rd...

You can do it. I believe in you.

I'm sure I've worked for this guy. He was a complete git.

Man, I think the clock is slow.

The clock is slow. It's not August 3rd yet...

But day two (or if you look at it this way, full day one) is pretty much over.

After a little accident (due to the fact I went back to bed at 8 am after being up around 5:45 am), I've think I've...well not got a rhythm yet but an IDEA of a rhythm for this whole week.

Morning (6-ish am) walk dog.

10:30 - 11:00 (the 10:30 is probably Wednesday for sure but possibly also Thursday and Friday) walk the dog

4:00 walk the dog and feed the fish.

8-8:30 pm, walk the dog.

So yeah... Here's hoping things keep going forward.

I've been watching a live stream of my son's band playing at an outdoor venue in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It looks beautiful out there.

How is everyone today?

In non-holiday-simian news, I just found a sweet potato that looks EXACTLY like a Guild Navigator from David Lynch’s Dune. This may be the best day ever.

"The spice must flow" means something far more frightening to a yam than a guild navigator.

Behold, as a wild ass on the Internet, go I forth to my work.

You either worked really hard for that or it was a moment of inspired lunacy. Either way, I laughed. Loudly.

The gods have favored me this day.

No gods favored me this day since when I woke up:

My dog barked at a guy walking down the street and made quite the nuisance at 5:30;

Then I side swiped my mom's brand new car (Well it's over a year now but still!)...and only told her about it after lunch. (That didn't go over well.)

My favorite dog that I'm caring for almost attacked another dog. (He's not good around other dogs but this was the first time in a LONG while he tried to pull me down.)

And I STILL have to go back to check on my best friend's dog who I hope is satisfied with all the walks she's getting from me...and thus will leave NO mess for me.

Oh and I need to find a time to go to bank so I can deposit my checks...

So yeah. It's a Monday. Thor help me.

Nah, that's cool too...as long as there isn't hail and high winds. And as long as you aren't the tallest thing around.

LOL,...

I have heard it said,...
"Salad is NOT food. It is what food eats."

:)

Fortunately there are many other veggies that are not in the 'salad' variety. And I can stomach them just fine. They are great. With Meat.
:)

And as far as the rice Cauliflower goes, my mother (who lost 60 pounds on this non-keto thing, and detests vegetables in all of their variety) says:

"Cauliflower is but a (possible) delivery device for Cheese Dip!"

To which I agree, I just use it to deliver sauces and gravies now too, thats all. ;P

I could stand it with cheese dip...LOL

Hello, everyone.

Hey, John!

I have a worsening mold problem in my house. I'm not allergic but my son is and he's having worse and worse reactions to it. I hope my landlord has something to offer as a solution because ladders are not safe for me and my son can't get close enough to it to clean it without special gear we can't afford.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

The solution is that the landlord calls a mold remediation company and has it removed at their cost. The source of the mold is moisture coming from somewhere, and unless you were directly responsible for said moisture getting trapped, it's on the landlord to fix that too. This is why you pay rent. You just have to report the issues, you don't have to pay to fix them, aside from light bulbs and such.

My landlord is a really good guy, so he should be able to do something.

Interesting note, Arkansas (where I live) is the ONLY state without tenant protections against landlord neglect and abuse. A bill has been introduced every time a new legislature is elected and it's voted down each time.

[REDACTED FOR ARSON LOGICAL REACTION TO POLITICAL STUPIDITY]

Tuesday has improved some...if only because it means I'm getting closer to Saturday.

Tomorrow will be...interesting since I've recruited my mom to assist me in keeping a long standing client while said client goes on a day trip.

I just needed her for the afternoon (between 11 and 2) so that I can cover EVERYONE else that I will be caring for.

Also got some time in on my friend's SNES and playing Super Mario World.

I'm still not good at it.
