Yep, cold and wet enough (and windy enough wind chill) that I've lit teh fireplace, and made homemade chicken soup for dinner!
:)

Those people crazy enough to want to go see floats and catch plastic beads in the rain can HAVE the silly plastic beads. I'm staying inside!
;P

I'd spending my Fat Tuesday at home. :p

I dog sat last night. I am now enjoying Fat Tuesday by preparing to nap off the lunch of fried liver and onions I had earlier.

I have never been a fan of liver. Or, really, any organ meat.

My college roommate said he never "ate food that secretes".

So the integrated video card of the computer I bought 2.5 weeks ago, and possibly some other functions of the motherboard have gone out. The perfect ending to a crap-gasmic day.

Aw bugger, that does suck.

But that recently, it should be under warranty, yes?

Is there any warranty on that?

Yes. There is still the 90 day warranty provided by Amazon as well as the extended warranty I bought as part of the purchase. As soon as I get caught up on some things this morning I'm going to call them.

For those of you who are migrating from other chat threads, and are aware of my attempt at doing a journal for a long running PbP thread,

After only a month, give or take, I present to you the next chapter,

Justin's Story- Chapter 7- A little Action!

4 PBP pages turned into 25 pages of pulse-pounding excitement!

Well,... turned into 25 hopefully entertaining pages at any rate.
:)

I hope you all enjoy, I honestly dont know when I'll get a chance to work on the Chapter 8.
;P

And Happy Hump day!

Well, the instructions I received won't work because it tells me to go into the BIOS settings and under video check "Enable Multi-Display". This isn't an option listed. So now my sister is coming over tomorrow to help me clean up the wreck I made of the house in my anger, which is exacerbated by the immense pain in my knee. I completely trashed the place. Some of my other electronics may not work now. I haven't been this out of control since I initially had my breakdown in 2006 and it quite frightened me. So now I'm going to take my meds, walk my dogs, and go to bed.

Today is much better. I found out that my knee will require surgery, which I was already sure of, and it will be outpatient, the same as it was when I had the same surgery on the other knee a few years ago. The surgery is scheduled for April 3rd. Just waiting for permission from my heart doctor regarding the blood thinners I'm on.

I hope the post about my tirade yesterday doesn't keep folks from coming back to the House. It really was quite out of character for me to write something like that and act like that. Some days all the things I put aside catch up to me at once, I guess.

Not at all. Even I've had hardware problems, now and then. I was simply doing things on my day off.

Did you have a productive day?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Pretty much. Accomplished a lot Yesterday. At work, right now.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

No, Cal, that won't put me off. Everyone has days. Occasionally we even get a good day.

I do dig the good days.

Welp, it's March in Arkansas, which is also known at the beginning of tornado season. We have a severe weather forecast for the weekend, so things are right on schedule. I don't mind storms and such, though I do have a healthy respect for the absolute destruction a tornado can cause. We also have a game scheduled for Saturday, which is supposed to be the peak day for the bad weather and one of my players will be making a 2+ hour long drive to come to the game.

Welcome to Spring, Arkansans.

I hadn't had a productive day in days... And after discounting a bit of translation and everyweek blog post, then really I hadn't had a productive day in a long time.

Except for working on upcoming games for my group I have very few days most would find productive. As I am no longer able to work I do very little besides sit on my butt and Facebook and haunt these forums all day.

My sister came and cleaned my house for me last night. We don't speak very often these days but it was a really nice thing for her to do as she knows I can't get around well right now. The good news about that is I'm going to have knee surgery to correct the problem. The bad news it's April 3rd, so I have nearly a month to still put up with the pain. But if all goes well it will go away. Kinda excited about that.

Hope it does the trick, Cal :)

Thanks! I've had the same surgery but on the other knee a little over 3 years ago, so I pretty much know what to expect. It's also outpatient and if it goes as well as the last time I'll be walking the same day. There'll be a little pain for a few days after that but it should go away. So here's hoping the doctor remembers what he did the first time and doesn't have to refer to notes! LOL

Storms passed through earlier this morning, carrying nothing worse than heavy rain and deafening thunder. I was still asleep when they started but as soon as the first heavy thunderclap hit my dog Rosie was lying on me and wanting reassurance that the booms weren't coming to kill her. Waking up with a 75-pound dog on ya isn't the best way to do so.

It was supposed to snow today.

Did it snow?

Did it b*ll*cks.

So I managed to do a decent amount of gardening, as planned.

I wish we'd gotten snow where I live this year. Snow is becoming increasingly rare in our winters now.

It might've snowed this winter, I don't remember.

So I had this REALLY long posting I was going to do about how craptastic my week has been... But then after I put it on OpenOffice Writer...I didn't save it. Mostly because I didn't want to keep a record of it. So then I just copied and was ready to paste it....until I saw another thread and I had to copy and paste SOMETHING ELSE before I could post what I had written....

I think this accurately sums up my entire week.

Everyone had a crappy week, it seems.

I myself can add to that pile, although my worries for the week are minimal in comparison: my weed guy left town a day early for his vacation, so now I gotta be sober for another week. He even said "hit me up Friday before I leave Saturday" - I do, and he doesn't answer. Yay...

This may seem like not that big a deal, but...any of you familiar with Pratchett's coined term knurd? (Yeah, that's drunk spelled backwards). If you don't know Discworld, and don't wanna read the link, to sum it up, if sobriety is the absence of intoxication, knurd is it's opposite. You see the world without the rose-colored glasses that we humans delude ourselves with of everyday life. Everything is painfully clear, and it sucks.

My natural state of mind is painfully knurd. I don't drink, though, for a variety of reasons, and so I'm otherwise about half a blunt short of state-zero sobriety that most people are in.

Check comes in direct deposit, bills get taken care of, and I have enough, and I make the calls...and no answers.

Imagine, if you will, those of you who drink, if you just...really had a s+!#ty day. All you want to do is unwind with a couple drinks. Not get loaded, just unwind. Suddenly, though, your usual store closes a day early for the weekend. The only difference is, you can't just run to a bar, or a grocery store, or gas station, or wherever. All of them are closed. You know there's some out there, because you swear you can smell beer, and you live in a college town, so there's gotta be beer, but nope, everyone seems to have sold out or has no idea where to find a drink.

It's really frustrating.

Oh well. At least I won't have to go another several months. I have a backup source who will be back in town in a few more days should the original continue not to answer texts or calls.

Another frustrating thing about the difference in chemical preferences: no bar suddenly changes their number and closes without giving you warning.

...I really need to take up indoor gardening...

Howdy, Housemates! How is everyone today?

My game went pretty well last night. Everyone had a good time and it felt good for me to step away from the big campaign I'm running (and burned out on) to run a game in what I hope will become the next big campaign once the current one ends (probably around the end of the year).

So how about you guys? Is everyone's weekend going ok?

Well, we're having a tough time with a mad spellcasting wolverine at the moment.

Whelp,
I went up to Oklahoma for this weekend, to attend my friend's funeral service.
Yeah,... they changed it on me, right before I drove up.
I didn't get the memo.
>_<

So, my son, (who was on Mardi Gras Break for the week) got to spend time with his cousins, and I visited with several of my family members. So it wasn't a wasted trip.

But now I get to take the same drive, again, THIS weekend, for the services. For real this time.
:P

IF I can get off this weekend again, and trust my student workers not to burn down the building while I'm gone. Again.

-_-

I don't mind the trips, I just dont like long drives. :)

Another session canceled - the intense winds of the last two nights damaged train power lines somewhere on the route one of our players and he won't be able to reach the session in time.

Maybe L5R session will happen on Wednesday...

Things are going pretty well in the Halaverse.

Of note: We're having the interior of our house professionally painted, starting today. My wife and I have spent the past two weeks boxing up most of our stuff so that we can move the bookcases and tables, and have cleaned out the closets so that the painters will have access to the walls. Unfortunately, this means that we feel like we're moving, and I'm regularly wanting to use something that we boxed up.

The project should take about two-and-a-half weeks, according to the contractors.

The cats are not going to be happy!

And on an unrelated note... I have tickets to see Captain Marvel tonight, and I'm really looking forward to that!

That sucks about the powerlines. Hopefully, they'll be repaired in time to get things going again for Wednesday.

Heyo people. I’ve been in a bit of a funk, which is why I haven’t been around.

My sympathies to everyone who’s life has been less than optimal of late. Life sucks sometimes.

Indeed it does. I wondered where you were, but figured wherever it was you needed the time away. Are you feeling any better?

A bit! Thanks for asking.

I'll probably have to wait until it comes out in Redbox or on Netflix. I living on a budget so tight you could crack a walnut between its cheeks.

I probably won't see it in the theater.

Doing Captain Marvel tonight with Aiymi.

Let me rephrase. I'm going to go to the theater to watch the Captain Marvel movie tonight with Aiymi.
