First compositions for a Bard

Playing the Game

Sorry for the noob question here all, this is going back to the basics here. Reading through the Bard section of the Playtest book, it says cantrips such as Inspire Courage use the Performance akill as part of their casting. When I cast Inspire Courage in battle do I need to make some sort of a Performance check (which I have not been doing in the past)?

Huh, just checked and it says that which is a little odd.

But no, no skill check involved unless you do something like Lingering Composition.

I think it just means that the casting involves a method of performance, be it song, dance, instrument, whatever.

I hope they make that clear in the official release. Because currently it is confusing.

"Compositions are a special type of spell that require you to use the Performance skill as a part of their casting."

The bard has a little thing on their entry that says they can use a performance for certain components, like you can use dance/act/etc for somatic, or sing/orate/play an instrument/etc for verbal.

The composition thing just means you HAVE to do this, instead of just speaking magic words and using magic moves, at least, that's as far as I understand.
