Bump for current discussion: I'm sitting on a portion of my stimmy and want to buy a new game. This thing has won more awards for pretty much every aspect of the game full-stop and is a massive hit.

I wondered if anyone here might be playing it, have finished it, and also to check if anyone has specifically played the Switch Port.

Silver Crusade

I own it on the Switch, it's really wonderful with great graphics and awesome music and voice acting.

Combat is super fun and intense, and with the gifts and rooms being randomized each run you don't get burnt out that quick doing attempt after attempt because you have to make new strategies and tactics on the fly.

I can be in a poly, bi relationship with Death, a Fury, and a gorgon head. Hell yeah. 10/10. Game of the Year. All years.

Liberty's Edge

I am happy to report that after my first six hours of the game it hasn't felt repetitive even once.

The work they did on the constant drip-feed of actually interesting engagement you have with the characters and randomness element pair up fantastically well. I only just made it past meg twice and died shortly thereafter but the feeling of actually learning the weapons and how to play is actually really rewarding.

Another thing, the soundtrack, holy cow I didn't pay attention to any of the praise for the game on this front but I am blown away by just how good it can be, especially during intense encounters.

If I had to name one thing that I wasn't impressed or satisfied with that would be the (apparently) inability to remap the buttons/actions so I could use a bumper for the dodge and "talk/interact" with the B button.

Liberty's Edge

A full week and about a bit less than a dozen hours in. I beat Meg about 80% of the time, her sisters far less often, prefer the Bow and Cap'N Shield weapons.

The thing that is really blowing my mind so far is that I don't think I've run into identical dialogue with any characters other than Hypnos and that's only because of repeated deaths to the same non-boss creatures (Darn Bombers!).

Most games with voice acting get really REALLY stale with canned lines and the like but the closest this game has to that are the "reaction" noises when I get harmed, die, or hear Hades laughing as I drag my sorry ass out of the river Styx again.

You're next Bone Hydra!
