I like getting my teeth cleaned.

Yeah... I'm the one person in the universe who likes going to the dentist. (As long as there are no drills involved.)

Y'know, once I started actually taking care of my teeth, I stopped minding going to the dentist. It's a victory to walk out with nothing but a cleaning instead of another filling.

I haven't had a cavity in 20 years!

The cleaning tool is a sound that gets to me in a way that only crunching ice can... I otherwise have no particular issues with it.
(Apparently, I'm not alone in the sound-thing, though.)

But, yeah, I like my dentist. They're awesome.

I've never liked the whine as it gets applied to my teeth.

Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. Okay.

So. Like. I get that this isn't the "weirdest" thing... at least the subject itself, isn't. But the degree of like might be deviant. Perhaps not that deviant you sickos!, but, you know.

But... ohmywurd. You guys.

Chick-fil-A's absolutely incredible chicken egg and (whole grain) bagel breakfast. Why?

I don't know. I'd eat it every daggum day if I could.

Like, I'm not too fond of (typically dry and heavy) whole-grain bagels. I like bagels, and, of the whole-grain type things they're not bad, but they're not top of my list.

Eggs are good... "over medium" (over-easy is too runny, and most other variants just aren't juicy enough for me; I do like boiled, though). And mixed with other foods. (I also accept scrambled with cheese, but the cheese has to be mixed, and you've gotta have milk. These eggs are... not that.)

Chicken is good. This is just plain CfA chicken (which is really good, but this isn't much different than their other stuff).

Cheese is good. This is plain, you know, but good.

... but put it all together and DAGGUM. I honestly don't know why I luuuuuuuuuuuuuurve it so much.

I half wish I had a card with a year's supply of nothing but that on it. (Well, that and a a year's worth of gallons of sweet tea.)

Oh, here's one, thanks to a trip I just came back from:

I actually enjoy air travel. Yes. Being packed aboard a thing the size of a ranch house with a bunch of random strangers, sitting in uncomfortable seats, and hurtling through the air... 'tis fun! Note that this does not extend to wrangling with airlines or trying to make connections- merely the experience of travel itself.

I actually really do, too, to some extent.

I do always get a little "aaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhhwhatamidoing" when the airplane takes off and lands, but considering I do that on the kiddy rollercoaster (the kind where the bar comes down and it moves you along a small un-scary track and tilts you at less than a 45-degree-angle), but am super-totes okay with pretty much anything those full-body-harness roller coasters want to do, so... yeah, I have no explanation.

I have flown 4 times in my life, each trip lasting about an hour. I was terrified each time, and after landing from one of them the guy behind me said he'd just won $50. His partner wagered I'd freak out and start a scene before we arrived at our destination and he bet that I wouldn't. I was glad to be of service, I guess.

I don't really like flying because I am inconveniently disproportionate. I don't fit in small spaces very well and it's pretty much impossible for me to sleep on a plane.

Edit: Uh-oh. It's the positive thread. Uh... When the babies aren't screaming they're cute.

I don't like to fly because in the 80s there were entirely too many movies on TV about plane crashes, and I watched entirely too much TV.

Also I'm afraid of heights, and plummeting to the ground in a fiery ball of wreckage.

I'm not so much afraid of heights but I do have an intense fear of falling from a great height. If I think on it for more than a few seconds I can feel a panic attack begin building.

Amusingly, I get vertigo... if my feet are on the ground. In a plane? No problem.

Think it's the fact that I've been taking rides on airplanes practically since I was born.

Another thing I enjoy that some find odd:

When I torqued my leg skiing, fracturing my tibia and shredding my ACL... I really liked holding the syringe after they drained my knee and just looking at the stuff floating around in there. Might be because after they siphoned some fluid out, it hurt less, but there was also a definite curiosity about the varied gunk that came out of my injured limb.

This goes in the other thread, and may well be a 'NOPE' for many!:
Oh! On the other hand, I can't stand the sight of a need while it's in me.

I can see the needle, I can see the blood thereafter, and nothing really hurts enough to care about in any way, and basically everything is good stuff... except actually watching the blood come out of me. That... that's just... nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnope.

And, you know, it's not even bleeding or otherwise painful experiences. Even bad ones. Those are more like, "Huh. That's weird." But taking blood? NOPE!

Actually, I kind of like being in hard athletic competitions - even and especially if I get hurt somehow. That is weird, but I like the feeling and sense of accomplishment... far more than I relish the feeling of exhaustion or accomplishment with anything that matters, unfortunately. But still! I like it!

I like going to the dentist because of the nitrous oxide.

I like going to the dentist because of the nitrous oxide.

I discovered a few years ago that nitrous makes my nostrils burn like someone stuffed a live coal into my sinuses. We still havent really identified why.

Up until February 1991 I was TERRIFIED of the dentist. But I had a molar go bad and it became obvious that something had to be done. So, went to visit one. He said root canal. This scared me even more, so he gave me to Valium to take the morning of the procedure. I wanted to make sure they worked so I stayed awake 36 hours, took the pills, drank 3 beers, and then had my wife drive me there. I was loud, raucous, ribald, and embarrassing, but I got through it without a hitch. Today I actually like going to the dentist and root canals hold no fear for me.

I've had two, so long as the root is properly numbed I'm pretty cool with the procedure. (The second one, the root just would not go numb no matter how much sedative they pumped into my face. They ended up having to send me to a specialist to finish the job. Thankfully that one went through just fine.)

I had to be completely put under to have my wisdom teeth extracted.

Oh yeah, so did I. But that's full-on surgery, which is notably different from a root canal or single-tooth extraction.

I really like waiting until the last minute to prepare for holidays.

We just got our Christmas tree today.

Yeah, I know a few other folks who didn't get theirs until today.

I just learned that the 12 days of Christmas is after the 25th. Blew my mind.

Me too.

It's ludicrous, but a tooth-cleaning at the dentist is as close to a 'spa day' I'm likely to ever get, being a dude. Pamper my molars! Don't skimp on the hot towels!

Plus I get someone talking to me, and am under no obligation to participate in a conversation more complicated than grunting or muttering 'uh-huh' or 'nuh-uh,' which is just about my 'out in public' socialization threshold. :)

That and the fact I'm incredibly lazy is why my tree stays up into January.

Like the leaves of the mighty oak tree, our tree comes down when spring arrives (or the kids and dog knock the last ornament off).

And then in the spring we cut off all the branches and turn it into a fence post for the garden.

My friends in Florida used to hunt down Christmas trees from front yards after Christmas and into the New Year. Then, they'd have a big pine-scented bonfire!

My immediate thought was a bunch of people in hunting gear carrying rifles on a pickup truck.

I am very amused.

Just in time for the holidays, a weird thing I like is burnt food.

That cheese that turned brown and stuck to the side of the casserole dish? That hot dog that sat on the grill a little too long and is now blackened and cracked open? Back off! Mine!

I like me some crunchy food-flavored carbon!

I always figured when I died it would be related to burnt cheese...

Watching Avengers: Infinity War on Netflix with my mom at 2:00 in the morning on Christmas.

Okay that's a record high of prepositions for me. Time to sleep.
