What Weapon Group Would Touch Attacks Fall Under?

Rules Questions

Was working on a campaign and was building a ghost fighter with both corrupting and draining touch. Didn't want to waste weapon training on a weapon (I'd have to give him a ghost touch one, which would put his wealth much higher than I'd like).

If there isn't any exact rules, I'm leaning toward one of the groups that unarmed strikes fall into, but I don't know which one. Any suggestions?

One more thing; should I add the bonus to weapon damage on corrupting touch (obviously to powerful to add to draining touch)?

Touching isn't striking so they deal no damage.

Touch attacks don’t fall under a specific weapon group. A weapon group is a narrow set of weapons with similar properties. A touch attack could be almost anything. This is like trying to get a weapon group melee, or ranged. Some individual touch attacks may fall under a weapon group, but as a whole they do not fit into any one weapon group.

Touch Attacks

of course that isn't a current weapon group... 8^)

Touch attacks are special attacks that are almost always magical, supernatural, or a funky ability. Otherwise the toucher can say, "you're IT!" and flee.

advice: if you are looking to put it in a group then put it with unarmed strike and combat maneuvers and you'll probably need a note for exceptions/special cases. Review weaponwand spell, touching/holding hands for spellcasting and effecting multiple targets, a familiar touching his master, etc. Touch attacks and touching may need to be separated.

Depending on the source of the touch attack, some are already in weapon groups.

Which weapon group is dependent on the source.

None. The weapon groups are defined, and "touch attack" is not listed in any of them. Not all weapons are required to belong to a nonzero number of weapon groups.

If you want to benefit from weapon training and similar weapon group based improvements, specialize in a group that includes unarmed strike and deliver your touch spells that way. You'll be targeting regular AC, though.

Not sure what level range you are in. Did you consider the gloomblade fighter.
