Why does this trigger only if you are hit, as opposed to attacked?
It seems decidedly odd that it's harder to exploit an opening of a less skilled opponent. In an extreme case of a very high level barbarian fighting a very low level opponent, they would be completely unable to use this feat at all, since their opponent would likely never hit them.

I wouldn't worry about it, because if you take that ability you are just looking to die.
Seriously, your giving everything a +2 to hit and damage against you, and it return your next attack (before the end of you next turn) treats the creature as flatfooted, and you get your Con modifier back as temp hp if you hit!
Think about that, each time you get hit, you loose an extra 2hp (and its even easier to hit you!). For each opponent that hit you, if you successfully hit them, you get back .... 4 or maybe 5 hp as temp hp.
The PF1 version of this ability was broken if exploited. This one isn't even an advantage.
